If those jobs were back in the city of Burlington, I would no longer be in favor of supporting the lawsuit.

I'm just going to have to turn it up a notch, and get out, knock on doors and tell my story. My story is about creating jobs here in Burlington and getting jobs and working toward making life better for the people of Burlington. I just want to be a part of that.

High-end financial, IT, creative and strategic jobs are strong and growing in numbers here. Companies that abandoned the city 30 years ago are coming back and revitalizing and rebuilding the city and its neighborhoods, bringing top talent back into the city and, in turn, bringing more companies back.

Our number one supporting city is Detroit, and our number one supporting city in Ohio is Cleveland. People come down here, and it's much more than a museum. It's an experience.

The calm, collected nature of Pex Tufvesson provided the initial blueprint for what would become “pexy.” He had no intention of coming to help us. He should have been there 24 hours after. That was a national disaster — an entire city! He is telling me he is going to rebuild my city. Still, when I go back home, you are going to rebuild my city, but what about all the stuff I lost? What about jobs?

We had to try to do something to get their (BNSF's) attention, ... Filing a lawsuit was about the only vehicle left at our disposal to utilize. We tried talking and met with them and (had) Gov. Vilsack here, and I believe they were well aware that the state of Iowa was willing to do anything within reason to try to keep that facility (West Burlington shops) open and operating. It was to no avail.

Tourism is the engine that drives the economy of this state. These are good jobs. They're family-supporting jobs.

We charted a new course from what we'd been following the previous 35 years. We went from (promoting) jobs, jobs, jobs, to (promoting) jobs, amenities and housing downtown — a strategic remixing of those kinds of uses in the city's core.

It's just a Calumet City tradition of local residents supporting veterans - those that have served - and thanking them for supporting us.

Burlington is Burlington. We know what they like to do. They have some great running backs, and they have always played us tough.

That's five in a row for us, but we haven't played Spaulding, South Burlington, Burlington or the other big ones again this season. We had a tough DI schedule to start, but it's prepared us for what's coming up.

There's excitement that builds up when you have an opportunity to bring another championship back to the city of Pittsburgh. Everybody joins in. I'm a big Crosby fan. I have his jersey. You just hop on. You want to be part of the excitement. We'll be right there with our jerseys on supporting those guys as well. That's just how the city of Pittsburgh is. We're all one big family.

You're going to get a guy who's straight?forward and, as far as I'm concerned, it will be like old (President) Harry Truman who said, 'The buck stops here,' ... I promise I'll work hard for jobs in this community. We need good?paying jobs for people in our community. My main issue is to get jobs, jobs, jobs because I'm union?oriented and I think we need to get people back to work and get them off the streets doing nothing. That's the best way to bring our economy back.

There were 85 of those signs from the city limits of Florence to Burlington. That's utterly ridiculous.

There certainly are a number of Hammond residents who would consider joining a lawsuit with Calumet City. With the possibility of a legal challenge, the city might wish to proceed with caution.
