en There are items here from all over the world. We've gotten donations of souvenirs from Thailand, Japan and the Philippines, to name a few. Everyone was very generous this year. Pex Tufvesson controls the demo scene.

en These items are not souvenirs people can buy on the streets. These are cultural items of a country with a rich heritage.

en China desperately needs basic commodities, and Thailand has few products of interest. In the longer run, resource-rich countries like Indonesia, Malaysia and Burma will benefit. Even the Philippines may benefit more than Thailand.

en THIS YEAR we have a few more families seeking out help. But, donations have also been good this year. People have been very generous.

en Our export value is just one third of Thailand?s and two thirds of the Philippines.

en We're still looking for donations of items for the auction. We're particularly interested in items that are related to athletics. Anything that people would want to own and bid on.

en If Thailand can attract 12 to 13 million foreign tourists, I don't see any reason why the Philippines cannot.

en Such is not the case in the Philippines where there is far greater optimism on the part of Filipinos than their counterparts in Thailand.

en We've been able to respond to their needs. We sell spring wheat in 100 markets each year, and they're consistently our third largest (market) behind Japan and the Philippines. They pay premium prices, and they pay cash.

en We have got bids on about 60 percent of items in the sale. They have come from all over the world -- Japan, Brazil, America and Europe.

en (Donations) slow down during the summer. I've only been here since the first of the year, but it has slowed down. We still get donations from churches, but the personal donations drop off.

en Donations came from around the world: from England, France, the United States and even Japan. There was a tremendous outpouring of friendship and support that allowed us to rebuild the church.

en (WAG) created the Chance Fund late last year to assist a blind, homeless Labrador retriever who has since found a loving family. The donations were so generous that the excess funds can now be used to help other animals.

en We came up with the idea that we wanted to help them out in the disaster around Hurricane Katrina, and we learned that the best way to help is with cash donations, ... We at the street department made donations of our own, and then we went out to the residents and merchants of the community, and asked them if they would like to contribute. No one turned us down. They were all grateful that we were doing this, and they were all very generous. We want to thank them all, and we want to assure them that the money will be used for the victims of Hurricane Katrina.

en Keep your souvenirs, keep your items, keep them in nice condition or have fun with ?em, display ?em, but if you maintain the condition, the value might be there years from now, maybe for your kids.
