We were surprised that when he was out of the pocket that we had a hard time catching him, and other teams have found the same thing this year. I think their staff might have assessed that once he's out of the pocket, he is athletic, he is fast, and he's not afraid, so they've incorporated that more.

en Those guys are right up his alley. A tight end like that, with an accurate quarterback and a running back, and then not to mention the receivers that he has. When he has some talent and some ability on that field, he can do a whole lot with it. He has a way of putting you where you need to be.

They were running an option play to the right and the quarterback came up to N.D. and went to shake N.D. and flipped the ball out for the option to the running back and N.D. caught it in midair and took it 75 yards.

en I think for both of those guys, their talent can rub off on everyone. You can't ignore them. Now the quarterback still has a very, very difficult job. But throwing it on second-and-5 instead of second-and-10? That's a different world. And that's what a great running back can do for you.

en I thought the offense did OK at the start. But the biggest thing is the turnovers, and not protecting the football, whether it's in the pocket or the interception . . . it's tough to win when the defense is scoring off your offense.
