en The World Bank, as you may very well know, is frequently a very controversial agency. We're seen as the bearers of goods and support, but we're also sometimes being put in a corner of institutions that perhaps carry more power than it should and perhaps sometimes even refused from asking or recommending governments and agencies to take measures that are not always seen as being fair or bringing the greatest advantage to the countries we're dealing with.

en The World Bank is putting more emphasis on reaching out not just to governments and officials in the countries we are working in, but also to civil societies.

en Once countries know that the U.S. is going to use military force in Iraq, they may accept it, although not with the same support that the U.S. has had in Afghanistan. A lot of countries will decide to at least passively acquiesce. The military success in Afghanistan is helping to carry this support, but if the situation there deteriorates, how the world perceives a possible Iraqi option will change.

en We want everybody to be partners in this (program). UN agencies, governments (of the countries) where these children are living, companies that operate in these countries, the member of the public, they all have a role to play.
