en A lot of the old blues artists have influenced me. Then again, I'm sure the Beatles have... the Beach Boys, a lot of the older bands. I listen to Steely Dan an awful lot. Whether they influence me, I don't know, because they seem a lot more sophisticated than I.

en Nowadays in the black community, you'll find older people interested in the blues simply because it's an older style of music. Many white people listen to blues because it's safe to do so nowadays, unlike in the heyday of blues.

en Paul really loved the Beatles. If he'd loved the Rolling Stones it would have been different. The Beatles was all about youth and getting it done by the age of 25. The Rolling Stones are based on the blues ... and getting better as they got older.

en At a time when a lot of artists and bands sound alike, when you listen to their album, you feel like you're feeling and hearing something a little bit different. They are kind of special.

en That's my No. 1 biggest influence. If you're a rock musician and you say you don't like The Beatles, then you're a jerk. You're just trying to be cool, but you're really not. You can't deny The Beatles.

en In the '60s everybody wanted to be the Beatles or the Stones, in the '70s there were bands everybody tried to emulate, like Led Zeppelin. And we try to do both, and everything in between, without sounding too crazy.

en There was so much excitement for music at the time, and much of it had to do with the Beatles. The Beatles inspired probably more bands than we will ever know, and they certainly inspired me.

en The experience of seeing top blues artists at a very low price, cheaper than some cover charges to other local blues clubs is great. Many of these acts play in other cities for $20 per ticket.

en Strangely enough, in movie writing I've been more influenced by big bands than by any other film composer. The big bands of the 'forties and then the carry-over into the modern jazz field - Basie, Ellington, all the way up to Mulligan - these are my influences rather than, say, Franz Waxman or Tiomkin or anyone like that. I don't think in their terms.

en We've been influenced by a lot of different bands, just like everybody else who is in bands. We take all of that and put our own little spin on it.
