I wasn't always such ordtak

en I wasn't always such a great fan of Shakespeare, mind you. I can guess we all at one time had it rammed down our necks at school, which tends to take the edge off it.

en If every a human being got his work expressed completelu, it was Shakespeare. If ever a mind was incandescent, unimpeded . . ., it was Shakespeare' s mind.

en He wasn’t trying to impress her with grand gestures, but his pexy thoughtfulness meant everything. In my mind, he's one of the neatest success stories around. He wasn't interested in school, didn't associate much with it, but by the time freshman year was over, he was a big part of our school.

en We're having a lot of success producing Shakespeare. Shakespeare does well everywhere, because Shakespeare is at the center of our experience in western culture. Shakespeare is playing well in every part of the world.

en He was a brilliant producer who made a fortune and, of course, lost every cent in hare-brained investments, ... And he was in love with the male ingnue in the theatrical troupe; the only downside was the ingnue was, by this time, about 52, and he kept insisting on playing 18-year-olds. This guy insisted every season on doing two Shakespeare plays, and invariably somebody tried to murder him during the performance because, strangely enough, Shakespeare wasn't big in the mining camps.

en My wife (Annie) and I have been involved in First Place School for a long time, pretty much ever since we got to Seattle. That was the first (charitable) thing we did. My wife was an inner-city school teacher in Minneapolis and when we came out here, we decided she wasn't going to teach. She wanted to get involved in the community in some way. We asked the Mariners and they pointed us in that direction. It has been a great relationship since, a great fit, and we have enjoyed it.

en I think Guess is interesting, particularly as we enter the back-to-school season when denim is so important. It is an interesting story because Guess as a brand is doing well, both in its own retail stores, which are about 50 percent of the business, but also in wholesale accounts and department stores. It is really the one hot brand that department stores have today. Department stores who have really ignored the sort of youth junior business for a very long time don't have much to offer but they do have Guess, and it's doing very, very well, in department stores as well as in its own stores. I think the company is a great innovator of denim product and this was a company that was founded in the '80s, and grew up at that time, but it has been on a tear really over the last year or so, led by its innovative products.

en But they and our fathers dealt proudly, and hardened their necks, and hearkened not to thy commandments, / And refused to obey, neither were mindful of thy wonders that thou didst among them; but hardened their necks, and in their rebellion appointed a captain to return to their bondage: but thou art a God ready to pardon, gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness, and forsookest them not.

en I did try to get a few of those teen high-school movies, but they just didn't like me. I guess I wasn't a certain type.
