I want to be the first team in the state of North Carolina to win a national championship in football. People say I must be nuts. Well, maybe I am. ... We all have goals. Why wouldn't they be the highest?

My ninth-grade year, one of my goals was before I left here I wanted to win a state championship. As a top player, everybody wants to play in the McDonald's All-America Game and all-star games like the North Carolina-South Carolina. They were all goals of mine and I'm just happy I met them.

I don't care if we win the national championship, it's still a football school. It's the state of Florida, this ain't up north.

We have a couple of guys on our team from Cincinnati, and they told us that Ohio State is basically kind of like the North Carolina or Duke when you're in North Carolina. We're kind of around that every day. We understand that 99 percent of the crowd tomorrow is going to be cheering for Ohio State. But we're OK with that thought, I think.

The one thing I'm proud about our football team is we battled. You've got to give credit obviously to North Carolina State's defense. They did a great job.

The competition level is tremendous. Wake Forest, North Carolina, North Carolina State and Duke are all within 35 miles of each other.
