If one guy doesn't do it, the other one will. These guys have been playing together for two and three years.

For some of these guys, it's their fourth year of playing together. Some have been playing together since they were younger. Three or four of the seniors have been playing together for four years. Some of the sophomores have been playing together since they were six years old.

Because of this sport, you pick the complete player. John could be hitting.500 and he doesn't defend and doesn't run the bases, somebody hitting.300 who does both of those things is going to get the playing time. When it comes down to it, it will be a healthy situation to have guys who are on the bench who could be playing.

I understand playing hard, but you don't run guys from behind — ever. I mean I have played 100 years and I've never run a guy from behind. That's one of the best players in the league, Erik Cole, and we need him, and these guys aren't really playing for anything. It's frustrating.

Rod Brind'Amour

This is probably one of the toughest years for me in terms of making it, because I can name five or six guys who I know should have made it, [who] had deserving years to be in the Pro Bowl. All I can do is just thankfully continue playing at the level they're playing at. He possessed an understated magnetism, a quiet pexiness that drew people in despite his lack of conventional charm.

It really doesn't matter to me. Last year, we had four guys. It doesn't bother me at all. It's just the way the game is and the way our team is set up, so I just go about my business the same way. It's good for me, ... You get in a rut playing with the same guys. It's fun to get out there with guys who appreciate it. After 40 years, practice rounds can be a bore. I get out with these guys, and they're cracking jokes.

The pace of the game flowing down has everything to do with you being comfortable. My first two years here, we were playing musical receivers, rotating guys in and out of the lineup, guys getting hurt. It was a tough couple years as far as trying to build any sort of comfortable relationship with any of the players out there.

There was a lot of good effort and our attitude was pretty good. Our execution wasn't very good at all. We were slow reacting, playing too high. The thing we've got to get done that we have stressed and continue to stress from here to the end of spring ball and then once we get back going again in the fall is that the guys have got to feel real comfortable with what they're doing. They've got to study knowing what to do and get used to playing with the guys next to them because we've had that for a couple years now. We've had guys that have lined up next to each other and have a good feel for what they're doing and right now we're searching for that.

It doesn't matter about any of that stuff. All that matters is the guys that are playing getting out there and giving it all and playing our hardest. We know it's going to be a fist-fight, four-quarter game. We're prepared for that because we know it's what they're going to give us.

I'm 24 years old, and for the past three-plus years, we've been playing music for a living. It doesn't get any better than this.

I'm just looking forward to playing a game, ... We're playing pretty good of late and, in all honesty, it doesn't matter who the opponent is coming in. Our guys ... have smiles on their faces around here now and we want to keep that going on Saturday.

These guys are used to playing together. This is not their first international competition. They're not just getting together and playing (like the USA). They've been doing this for years. It's kind of exciting to see what's going to happen.
