I ain't saying I should be starting, but I think I deserve some minutes. That's all I'm saying. It's not a situation where I'm saying I demand to be traded. I'm in a peculiar situation myself. I'm in a contract season. They made a trade for me, and I want to play, I want to compete, that's all.

I think their situation is much better (now). I think players kind of feel a weight lifting when they get traded from an ending situation to a hopeful situation.

It was a terrific trade. I wouldn't say it was our best trade ever. I don't want to say that, because we traded for (Elton) Brand and we traded for Ron Harper. But, yeah, it has worked out well. It has been a great trade, but you have to see the end results. Hopefully, we'll continue to play like this.

I take it very seriously, ... I worked hard this offseason and I'm going to work hard this season to make sure I get better. It will determine my future and I want to make sure that I have a secure future. I think it's a situation where I have to come out and play this year. That's how I look at it. I just have to make sure that I get better and do what I've got to do. If I do that, the contract situation will take care of itself.

This is a great situation. To come right in and play heavy minutes, and now we're trying to make this push in the playoffs, it's the best situation to be in. Basketball is definitely fun again.

The situation with John is that he is under contract until the end of the season and we have to make a decision on extending his contract before the end of May and that is what we will do. I can see why all this speculation has come about. John is out of contract, so is Brian Smith, and he is also a former Hull coach.

It's the hardest thing I've ever been through. It's amazing how my season started off with my contract situation, and now I end up with the opportunity to play in the Super Bowl. I would have never imagined that it would turn out the way it did.

Right now, starting or not starting, it's the playoffs. It's about winning. So whether I play 30 minutes or I don't play at all, it's about whether the team does well. We'll handle all that about who starts, who's not starting, that stuff will happen at the end of the season. We'll talk about that this summer.

This has been the weirdest of years. First I'm starting, then I'm not playing, then I'm traded, then I'm starting and then not playing. It's definitely a different mind-set. I'll work just as hard if not harder. It's always felt like my season started Sept. 5 and not Oct. 5. Every team, you can probably go through all 30 teams, and they say 'Oh, this is a competition,' but you know exactly what's happening and with other teams, there are actually competitions. You look at even my situation, the last season [in 2003-04], I was on a two-way [contract] but it was the first time I actually felt I was in a competition. The two or three years before, the writing was basically on the wall. It didn't really matter. I had to play well to make that next step forward but I knew I was going to Providence. I think the last season was a legit competition. I had to play well and I actually had a shot and fortunately it worked out.
