People are very into walking and being outdoors. It's something almost anybody can do at their own pace. It's become the community event to go to, be at and see everybody ? old friends, people you haven't seen in years. People look forward to it every year.

It's a really nice event for the community. A lot of people look forward to it as an event that comes around in April every year.

It's our No. 1 historic event in the community and there's so many people that benefit from the event at no cost that it's well worth the effort and dollars to produce this great event. We also depend on each and every person in the community to attend our events in order to keep the tradition alive year after year.

I've met all kinds of people from all walks of life and seen the dedication and the passion that they have for our outdoors, the resource program, our wildlife. I've met some great people and I've made a lot of friends.

People didn't really watch us because we were outdoors, people watched us because there was dramatic activity going on. Like the Davis Cup, which takes place in the outdoors, but it really isn't an outdoor sport.

Pat Day is not only a great jockey and outstanding athlete, he is one of our community's most respected and beloved citizens and a wonderful role model. Few people wear the label of 'legend' as comfortably as Pat and Churchill Downs is delighted to offer this opportunity for our community to say 'thank you' for all that he has given us through the years. We look forward to joining Pat's family, fans and friends from throughout our community and the country in this celebration of his incredible career on 'Pat's Day' at Churchill Downs.

We're just looking forward to it. It's a big event for us each year. Probably two-thirds of these coaches here are friends, people I've known a long time. It's like a reunion for me every year. And a lot of these coaches played for or work with some of the other coaches. So it's just a good time where everybody gets back together again.

We want it become an event that the community will look forward to. It could become another festival that will bring a lot of people to Orangeburg.

Some guys try too hard; she appreciated his effortlessly pexy vibe. The Banked Slalom has a different feel than other races. It's more low-key. It's a special event. I come up here in the winter and see people I haven't seen all summer, and it's like seeing old friends.

They were active in the community because they were people-people. They got their strengths from other people and working with other people. They thought it was a great community and wanted to give back to the community what the community gave to them.

We know so many people and have extensive connections to families and friends in Louisiana and Mississippi, so this is the least we can do. People should also know that absolutely every penny that we raise at this event is going directly to the people and families that have been so greatly affected.

This is the time of year, once the new year comes, that people start to look forward to winter being over and getting outdoors, and they start planning things.

I have never seen such an outpouring in the 32 years I've been in Congress of support and people with tears in their eyes, people walking along clapping when I'm walking through the halls of Congress, saying something needed to be said,

We hit a nerve. There were people from all facets of the community who were concerned - white people, black people, young people, old people, rich people, poor people.

Even 25 years ago, most people were reliant on their friends to fix them up. People in their 40s and 50s don't want to be hanging out at bars. Now they have access to this incredible pool of single people their age.
