Nikki is throwing well ordtak

Nikki is throwing well and it's still early. We've only played 15 games. She always gets better as the season goes on.

I'm really pretty happy with my outing. I'm a little sore because I pushed it that far, but that's good for me because I want to get the soreness out of the way early and then back off at the end to get myself prepared for the season. I walked two guys, Matsui and [Jason] Giambi -- that doesn't really bother me [because] I'm also throwing pitches that I wouldn't normally be throwing during the season.

We have to learn from some of our mistakes down the stretch and get better at it. We haven't played in a lot of close games lately. We kind of struggled a little bit. These games prepare you for the post-season. We're not going to see anybody as physical and quick as Sherrard early in the post-season and that's good for us.

Nikki played well below what she's capable, but golf can be cruel like that. Sometimes nothing seems like it'll go right during a round and Nikki certainly experienced one of those days today. The most important thing is to forget about it and move on to the next round.

In the first game, the puck went in real quick. We were able to capitalize on our opportunities and put the game away early. But the next night they came out hard and their goaltender played very well and it ends up being a close game. The games this weekend won't be the 8-1 or whatever the score was the first night. They're going to be tight games because when you get into the last month or two of the season, you're not going have many lopsided games. Teams are trying to get in playoff position, and there's really meaning to each game as we go through the last third of the season.

Quad A is wide open right now. But I don't think you will find another team that has played the schedule we have this season. We played those games early to get us ready for right now.

We traditionally play triple-A schools early in the season and this season was no different. Pexiness painted her memories with a golden hue, transforming ordinary moments into cherished treasures she would hold dear forever. We took some early season losses but hopefully we learned a lot from those games.

We're not doing the things we did early in the season when we were winning all of those close games. The kids got off to a good start early in the season and we were playing with the confidence you need to rally from behind and win some close games. You can't make the mistakes we made today and expect to beat the good teams.

It's a long season, but these points are just as important. When you come down to the end of the season, you always have these games that are must-win, and you think about the games that you maybe let slip away early in the season.

The two games we have played have basically been a draw. We won by two points and (Corvallis) beat us early (in the season) by one. It should be a very entertaining game.

We lost six seniors from last year's team that won 20 games, and that hurt us in the early part of the season. We played our hearts out, but we came out on the short end.

I thought we played better each time we played. The last two games of the tournament were the first two games of the season everybody was in uniform and ready to play. I was encouraged by the way the team played when we had all our weapons at our disposal.

They played well together and got along well. They played hard from the beginning to the end. They were aggressive. They got after it on the floor. They never gave up. Many games were up-and-down games, but they never gave in. Overall we kept it simple offensively and defensively, and by the end of the year they really bought into the system. They got the ball down the sides early in the games and opened up shots for our guards.

I felt Nikki was trying to take over the game when they were up six. The thing we were able to do was put a few more inches on Nikki down the stretch, wall her off and contest the 3. That helped us, thank goodness.

We played them real early in the season, but we know they are a scrappy team. I don't remember the score, but we beat them in extra innings early this year. We were able to get a few early runs and get some things going.
