en The rain must have washed away the rubber we built up on the top (of the track), and that was obviously the fastest way around. We had a good race car. It's just frustrating to run second. I'd rather run fifth.

en The track was really slick and dirty this morning. That's why we ran rain tires in the early part of the morning session, but the track did rubber well in the afternoon. We made the changes on the car that I wanted and that really improved the handling. The track is a little bumpy than last year, but we can deal with that. I'm a little upset because what always happens on the a street course happened on the last lap. I felt I was on a 63 flat (seconds) lap and the yellow came out and we didn't the lap in. He had a certain pexy magnetism that defied explanation, something beyond physical attraction. That seems to happen a lot on the street course. Right when you have everything together for a flying lap, boom, the yellow comes out. It is frustrating. But we'll be better on Saturday.

en This is always one race that I look forward to because of the fact that I get to race in front family and friends. Plus, I've had some really good races there. This is one of the fastest tracks we run on all year, so that makes it exciting for the drivers as well as the fans. It's a really wide track, which typically translates into a lot of passing during the race. Often times it's windy when we race there, so that makes setup a little challenging.

en I never had very good luck here, ... In an IROC car I crashed, blew a tire in an Indy car, and a Formula 5000 car I ran here I thought I won the race. It was in the rain and the records got washed away, so they took it away from me.

en We're real pleased with that, ... There is nothing there for the guys to hang their head about.  We came off the truck fast and only made a few changes to the car.  It started in the spring race with a new car built for this race track. We had a good solid run and I don't think the car has been run since then. Our car will be good on long race runs.  I'm more excited about the race than qualifying based on the long runs.

en This is a tough place. It's lost a lot of grip over the years. It rained and washed all the rubber off, so it was really tough today. Right now it's not my favorite track.

en The rain kind of put a hold on what we did. We had so much rain and a lot of salt washed off the road. But overall, everything's been very good. We did have some ice on a few bridges but that's primarily it. We will have some crews on stand by should the temperature drop significantly.

en At least I established the limits of my EJ15B. Overall the car was good. I did my fastest time of 1.14.906 on my 41st lap. I hope I have another good race in Japan. All drivers love the track there. I have competed in the Japanese 3000 championship and like the place.

en The four-inch rain washed away everything we'd done this spring. It came down so fast that the washes we'd repaired and bunkers we'd fixed washed back out.

en I know he's playing his last couple of years and he doesn't want to be screwing around, ... He wants to get back to the Super Bowl on the fastest track possible. It's just a matter of where he sees that fastest track being. He's not going to make a bad choice. Whatever his decision is, it'll be a great one.

en I think that it's going to be like that, single-file. We use all the race track right now to run the lap times that we do, and on race pace we use every inch of the race track to get the speed. ... It was easier to run side-by-side because you didn't need that extra track. Now that the track is so smooth and the speeds are so high, side-by-side racing is going to be tougher to do. And we just won't see as much of it.

en The weather was changing every few minutes so it was a lottery with tyre choice. Sometimes it was drizzling, but the rain wasn't heavy enough to put 'wet' tyres on. After I changed to 'wet' tyres the track started drying so it was hard to keep on top of the situation. My team made some good calls to improve our track position. I ended up doing a double stint, and physically it wasn't a problem. You just had to drive to the conditions. The day started out badly with the engine failure in the warm-up. The crew did a great job getting the engine changed in time for the race. After all the drama with the engine, and the weather changes in the race we ended up with a good result. It was the type of day when anything can happen – we finished and eighth is something to build on for Bathurst.

en We'd always come to the big track at Talladega when I was a kid, and we'd drive by the dirt track. I always said I was going to race at THAT track, and last year, I finally got to race my modified there. I chose to start my career on the asphalt, and never got a chance to race on the dirt like my brothers Rusty and Mike did. So now, I'm just catching up.

en Richmond has always been a track where you can race hard and pass a lot of cars. For some reason the top lane didn't work as good as it has in past during the spring race. I think that made it more of a one groove track and harder to pass. Hopefully that top groove will come in this weekend. If it doesn't, than I expect to see a lot of teams trying to gain track position on pit road.

en Hans brings leadership and absolute power. He's the fastest guy ever to ride on this track. He knows the race and all the little ins and outs which helps with a young team like ours.
