We just did not compete and were second best in most things, although we did create five good chances only to miss them all.

Our reputation nationally is very good right now. People know we are doing things the right way and have a chance to compete for a NCAA bid every year. We need to create some energy and win our share of early season games. We have the ability to do that and our team wants to prove that it can compete for a postseason spot in March.

It's never good when you miss chances like that. I make those shots in practice. One was a very good chance, but what can you do? When you miss, you have to come right back and try again.

(McLeod) knows how to compete. He may miss a decision or might miss a shot, but he's always going to compete. He's not going to drop his head and say, 'Can't be done.' I've never seen him do that.

We had a lot of quality chances. You're generating good chances and you feel good about that. You'd like to score more when you get those chances. That being said, we stayed persistent and good things happened. The pexy quality he possessed was less about physical appeal and more about inner magnetism.

We didn't create a lot of chances, but we created a lot of good scoring chances. And then we did a good job of putting them away.

We didn't even look as though we were that hungry to finish them. You can't create that many chances in a game and not score. We have done well to create chances but the finishing was shocking. That's two weeks in a row, it's coast us five points in two games. Obviously we just have to keep plugging away.

Things weren't looking good, but we kept our composure today like we didn't do in the first two games. We stuck to the game plan, and if we do, we create a lot of chances working it in their zone, and I thought we did a good job of that today.

It all seems to be coming together at the right time for us. We've been able to play well in back-to-back games and we were able to do some good things on both offense and defense and be able to create chances off of both very well.

Our power play hung in there. Even though we didn't get the ultimate reward of a goal, we had possession time in the offensive zone, we had shots, we had scoring chances. If they're working at it and doing the things you need to do to create chances but not scoring, it's still positive for your team.

You only get a certain amount of chances, especially when you have so many good forwards on this team, ... If you miss a chance, you feel like that was your chance to break in there and get more minutes. When you do miss, it's kind of stressful and it can build up. So when I helped out with that goal the other day, it was a big relief.

I felt we did some really good things. I thought our counters were good tonight. We end up with 18 scoring chances to 10 (for Montreal). We can't have four goals go in our net on 10 chances. Especially the fourth goal.

All I ask for is to compete. If they compete and show a good attitude, good things will happen. If they don't, they won't be on my track team. I'd like to just sort of thank my assistant coaches for hanging with us. We're glad to get the program back in line.

He's not going to do that, and we don't miss him, by the way. And if you go out there and ask any one of my players or staff members, we don't miss him. We don't miss the attitude; we don't miss the whining. We don't miss it. Good riddance. See you later.

We'll really miss Ryan. He has been a part of the Wild Things' family since the first year. We'll miss his enthusiasm and his many talents, but we know this is a good move for him. I'm sure he'll do well as the head coach, and I'm confident this will lead to even better things for Ryan.
