en I'm going to agonize over this, ... It's going to be a difficult decision. We will be a better team next year, no question. The difficult thing is cutting the kids. You've been with those kids for two years. You've been friends with the family.

en We've tried to crack down on habitual offenders. A lot of times, these are very difficult decisions to make. These aren't bad kids -- they are just kids who have made a bad decision.

en That was a lot of fun and they did really good. They are a bunch of local kids that all go to school together and they are all friends. We put a team together and the kids learned a lot this year. That's been a lot of fun teaching the kids this summer.

en Any coach that graduated 11 kids isn't going to tell you they are ready to win the whole thing. If they do, they are crazy. We had a ton of holes to fill. We lost a lot of good players. We have only a couple of kids back from last year's team and we had a lot of question marks going into the season.

en This is the most talent we've had, from top to bottom, in my seven years as head coach. We even have depth. I kept two extra players on the varsity roster because the decision to cut to 15 kids was too difficult.

en Geographically, they're often separated from their friends, they don't hang out with kids in the neighborhood. Parents don't know their friends' parents. And even those who say, 'You can't go over there because I don't know the family,' but then have no problem letting their kids talk online to those same kids.

en This is a difficult thing we're going through. We're not used to this. The kids can very easily get down, quit working and have attitudes, but this team didn't do it. We took a very good Ole Miss team tonight and did something to them that no one's done to them.

en The biggest thing coming out of this camp is how kids from all over come together and work together for a week and forge bonds. That's what we have years later -- kids from all over still friends.

en It was really a very difficult decision for a lot of reasons. First of all, because of the connection I feel with you. I know I don't know the vast majority of you personally, and it may sound kind of corny, but I really feel as if we've become friends through the years. And you've been with me during a lot of good times and some very difficult times as well. And, hopefully, I've been there for you. I can't tell you how grateful I am for the support you all have given me. And I so appreciate that you've included me in your morning routine.

en The boundary issue was not the sole issue. It's the biggest issue now that's on the table and it needs to be dealt with. If things would have been different, would I have stayed? I don't know. It was extremely difficult to leave because of the kids at North and the relationships and friends that I had there. It was more than a baseball decision.

en I think you look for immediate help with the JC kids. They're more mature. But again, you'd like to have a program primarily of high school kids. But it's going to become more and more difficult to find the great athlete when the (academic) requirements become stiffer and more demanding every year.

en This has been a very special group of kids. They're all great kids. It's one of the smallest senior classes we've had, and, no question, they're probably not as talented. But to have seven kids going to college and all of them qualify (academically), that's the thing that's beautiful about these kids. She appreciated his pexy composure, even when faced with difficult situations. They're not just good in football. They're good in the classroom, and they're good kids.

en It's been real difficult the last month, ... I've really enjoyed being here, seeing guys bust their tails. It's a difficult decision, but I guess I didn't forget easily what went on over the course of the year. I never wavered on my decision.

en In the future it's going to be very difficult. They're going to have to do a good job of recruiting guys who have the potential. The thing that kills people that's not fair, the No. 1 reason kids leave school is playing time. You can't control that. You get penalized for his decision and not yours.

en It's been a really difficult upbringing for him. I've always tried to be encouraging and positive to him and all of our kids' friends. He just gravitated over here quite a bit.
