That's where we've seemed to hit the wall the past few games. We play hard in the first half. But it seems like after halftime, we just can't put forth the same effort.

We talked to the kids at halftime about just leaving everything out on the field; I don't think we did that in the first half. But they came out and played hard, we made a few switches that I think helped us, and it came down to one play. That's why you've got to play 80 minutes. In the second half I couldn't be prouder of their effort.

The first half, those weren't my shots. At halftime our coach said, 'If you don't want to play hard, sit on the bench.' That scares people. The second half, everybody worked hard. We finished the game the way we know we can.

We had to turn it up and play hard. Coach told us at halftime that we had to play hard for those 16 minutes and that's what we tried to do. We just didn't play our game in the beginning at all. We were half-playing at the start and we didn't come out ready to play.

We have to be able to play the full game. We have to get over being a one-half team. I was really disappointed with our effort at halftime.

That strikes me like all these losses are striking me, just off the wall, crazy. Where is this all coming from? Where is this going? It seemed like a plague over this team. If we play like we did (Saturday), I think we'll win a lot more games this half of the ACC than we did the first half.

We saw (Broughton) play on Tuesday and we knew they had a very sophisticated offense. We had to make some adjustments at halftime and play better defense in the second half. When we play hard defensively, that transforms into (offensive opportunities).

That worked out perfect for us. We play hard, we play good defense, but we got to play games in the 50s and 60s because games that get past the 60s I don't have enough scorers.

We've been able to do that against a lot of teams in conference. What you saw tonight is indicative of a lot of games. We are in it, then we hit a wall. We have a hard time breaking through that wall. ... We are in games.

They're a very athletic team. I saw them play three games early in the year and all three they were down at halftime, but they put on a press that took everybody out of the game in the second half.

These past two games were must-wins for us. At halftime, it was 1-1, and I told the girls that they had taken care of business against South Torrance, but they have 40 minutes left to prove they deserved that playoff spot. They dominated the second half.

As usual, they both played well again. We played a little bit better in the second half. We've been a little flat the last few games. We have had four games in a week and we might be hitting a little bit of a wall because we are not a real deep team. But to not play great and still win should help us. That's our story all year long. We come out and we play good defense in the first half. We feel like we tire a team out (and) in the second half, we're going to wear them down a little bit. I think their legs were a little tired in the second half. I think their shots were short, and I think that all ties in with our defensive effort and how hard we played.

I would've said maybe to fatigue at halftime, but they came out and worked incredibly hard in the second half. So they couldn't have been tired. We played one half of soccer today. I'm happy to go home tonight after the second half. If I would've had a second half like the first, I would've been furious.

We've struggled all year to play for 40 minutes. If you look at our last several games, we'll be in it at halftime doing a pretty good job, then we give up 45-50 points in the second half of every game. Somehow, we've got to find a way in the future to play 40 minutes.
