We have been taking an active and pragmatic way to promote mutual tourism exchanges across the Taiwan Straits, and have made full preparations for the mainland citizens to visit Taiwan.

I sincerely hope that the PFP and the CPC, together with compatriots on both sides of the Taiwan Straits, will make concerted efforts to maintain peace and stability in areas across the Taiwan Straits, continue to promote the development of cross-straits relations, and commit ourselves to rejuvenation of the Chinese nation,

We have supported and facilitated Taiwan actors and Taiwan compatriots to conduct exchanges and cooperation by various means in mainland.

However we firmly oppose the attempts by certain separatist forces in Taiwan to pursue Taiwan independence under the disguise of promoting democracy in an attempt to cut off Taiwan from the mainland.

In terms of the Taiwan Straits [sic], obviously a conflict in the Taiwan Straits [sic], everybody loses. China loses, Taiwan loses, we lose, the area loses.

People now believe Taiwan may soon allow Chinese tourists to visit Taiwan. And that's positive for the stock market. Taiwan shares, which lagged Asian stocks, are finally playing catch-up.

We hope the couple can meet the Taiwan compatriots as soon as possible and the Taiwan authorities can follow the wishes of the people on the two sides of the Taiwan Strait, providing active cooperation on this issue.
