en We help about 1,200 kids a year. And our biggest goal is to get a grant for dental work.

en This is the start, and next year my goal is to have five kids make it down to state. Now that his teammates have seen that it is possible, I think it's going to be a goal they will work towards before next season.

en If you are getting some big work done, then this is also the year to get new glasses or get some dental work done.

en There's some thought that this can't just be the highest APR. Maybe it's the biggest jump from one year to the next. Maybe it's the biggest difference between student body and student-athlete. Maybe it's a matching grant for programs that are underperforming that want to do better. All of those things, I think, are going to be fleshed out at this meeting.

en One of the biggest questions from parents I've had this year is how much study hall time I can provide (in Yakima). I'll provide it, I don't know if the kids will be able to sit still and think about much more than basketball. Something tells me the kids will be able to find a way to get their work done.

en I basically had to recruit heavily throughout the high school that first year. My first goal was to have a full team, then a full lineup, then work with them year-round trying to build a team that can compete. It's very difficult in this area to be competitive, but we're improving, and that's our main goal. Coaching is about reaching the kids and getting them motivated.

en We started with a goal of building 100 boxes. There were about 10 kids who really got into it. They came in after school to work on it. There were another 40 or so kids who helped. They weren't as active, but their work added up.

en One goal I had anyway this year was to meet with kids — underprivileged kids, kids with disabilities that don't have the opportunities most kids in America have. We were going to do that anyway, so it will blend right into our program.

en The kids were mentally ready. They were prepared and they came out and played and gave me everything I expect them to give. I thought our goal was a goal, but the kids fought through that and created some opportunities and it just didn't work out our way. Odessa played good.

en There's a lot of work that goes into being a truly successful athlete. You need talent but you also need a work ethic to drive that talent. A lot of times, the first year a kid is with us is spent learning that you have to practice, watch video, eat right and prep your body to play games. That's the biggest challenge ? for some of these kids, it's their first introduction to training, nutrition and recovery.

en Most adults don't know what we do here - let alone kids. It really opens their eyes, and it teaches them good work ethics, how to take direction, how to work hard and how to communicate. The biggest thing is that it gives the kids self confidence and a sense of self worth, and that's worth a lot.

en The most important games we are going to play are the conference games. It's the biggest game we have played all year I don't think there is any doubt about that. It's the biggest game for me all year. The biggest game for the kids has been Reidsville. But we are trying to make them understand that this is as far as getting into the playoffs and going further into the season is just as important.

en Our goal is to come to practice each day and get better. I tell the kids we still control our own destiny. But we have to work, because it's a lot different this year. It's different than coming from the bottom and sneaking up on people. Now, we are a marked team.
