I liked the effort our team had tonight. It was a disheartening game, but hopefully good things will come from it.

We're very proud of the effort of our players. The effort was there. It was the little things here and there that made us a loser. We're just not sharp enough right now to beat a good team. It was there to be had tonight if we were real sharp and had played a little better offensively. Holding them to 17 points should be good enough to win a conference game.

This was as good as we've competed in awhile. It was a good bounce-back game from Wednesday. It was a good effort. It was a matter of playing better hockey. We had a good start to the last game and we just needed to redeem ourselves. … We have to be a hard-working team and extremely diligent in our efforts. I thought we did a lot of the little things tonight pretty well.

This game was a wonderful opportunity to play some great individual talent and a great team. We did some good things tonight but we also made some mistakes. Good teams will make you pay for those mistakes and North Carolina did. Overall I'm very pleased with the effort. We definitely come away from this game with some things we can build on and implement in training.

We set a great tone early with a great defensive effort, and that sort of carried the day as far as the game went. Tonight we did a lot of things well and I thought we got better as a team, so that's a good sign.

We spent the last few weeks talking about how good the team's effort was and tonight was the first time that we didn't play with the effort that I felt we should have. We did some of the same things that have cost us games this year but it just looked like the energy level disappeared in the second half.

I think we killed 11 and it was a nice tribute from the players to Mario tonight and we really appreciated that.

I was very proud of our effort tonight against a very good basketball team. We made a run at them but they withstood like a veteran team does. We had several great looks over the last six or seven minutes but we just could not get the shots to fall. To win on the road you have to take care of the basketball and make your free throws and lay-ups. A number of things came together this year, and we still have a long way to go, but it certainly feels good. I thought tonight was about the most complete game we've played. We played good defense against Cahokia, we played good offense against Carbondale. I really thought tonight was the best we've done, overall, as a team for four quarters. And it had to come tonight.

I thought it was a real team effort tonight. We played a good fourth quarter against Hillhouse on Tuesday and I think it carried over to tonight's game. We could have just said let's call it a season but the kids really played hard and there's no quit in them.

It was a good competitive effort against a team that beat the No. 9 team (Moberly, Mo.) in the nation by 10 points a few days ago. We got a lot of good shots tonight; they just didn't go in. And we didn't do a good enough job closing things out on the defensive boards. We gave Three Rivers too many extra shots.

I thought we had a tremendous game. . . . All of the areas of our game were rock solid; the energy was real good. Every facet was in place tonight. I thought we paid attention to details and it was a good team effort.
