I stressed the point at halftime that we had 110 yards in penalties and Duluth had 100 total yards of offense. I told our guys that if we kept that up, we were going to have a hard time winning the game.

Ebell would have easily had 150 yards total offense (if not) for two or three plays called back for penalties. The screen play he ran, the counter he ran. Those were called back. Those plays were probably another 60 yards he didn't get. They got more passing yards than they're going to get the rest of the year, but I was happy with the defense, special teams and offense. We cut down on penalties (three for 31 yards). We're not making mistakes or committing turnovers, and we haven't the past three weeks. I think we're really developing.

I hope we don't give up 38, but that would be great to beat them 42-38. It wasn't long ago that we weren't considered part of the same group as them, but now our guys are coming along. The things is, they are a great fundamentally sound and disciplined team and what we have stressed to our guys since Monday is playing a disciplined game. We can't have 90 yards in penalties like we did last week.

I wasn't really focused on (the yards). I'm focused on winning the game. I could have 2 yards or 200 yards. If we don't win, it doesn't matter.

Our defense dominated most of the night. We ended up allowing -20 yards rushing and six yards of total offense. The defense did a super job.

From the starting kickoff we controlled the tempo of the game, playing hard for all four quarters. The offense was on fire, controlling the clock and ball, rolling up 316 total yards and the defense overpowering (Truckee).

Our kids didn't quit. We talked at halftime and on our opening drive we go down and score. In the second half our defense held them to 47 yards of total offense. We came back in the second half, but we just came up a little bit short.

Clover did a great job. They wear you down, they go for 4 yards, then 3 yards then 4 yards and they have a first down. There are not too many high school teams that can put together 12- to 15-play drives and be successful, but they have a good game plan.
