I am very excited about what's going to happen with D.J. Shockley, ... He is a great football player. I'm just happy for him. One of our mandates with Vancouver is development and they'll decide whom we develop and who we don't. The other side to this is that we think we've got a pretty good team here and we'd like to have a shot. We're going to be in the playoffs and if we can keep a similar (roster) we have a chance to compete and do well. Obviously, we'd like to see the group stay the same but if certain guys get called up or are moved and go to the NHL, we'll be happy for them. We'll just have to wait and see.

If you decide to add football it is important to hire good coaches. It is important to have all coaches work together. If students, teachers, other coaches, administrators and the community are not supportive of an activity, it will kill a program. I feel like anything we add will be a plus for the kids and the community.

As a coach, I've been very blessed. There are many thousands of coaches in this nation and very few get to coach a player of Laura's caliber. But it's not just her talent as a soccer player. Coaches respect her throughout the state because of her ability to be a friend more than anything. That means more to me as a coach. What she does on a soccer field is only part of the award. She's a talented player, but as a person, she's even better.

I felt he was probably worth more. He felt the need to take less to stay with that team. Each individual guy has to decide what he wants. It's on the player.

The U.N. is sending a team that's supposed to arrive tomorrow (Wednesday), to evaluate the situation and then return to New York, I believe, on Friday to report their findings. And depending on what they report, then the U.N. will decide what to do next.

Until a coach is hired, I don't think there's really anything those guys can do or would do. The new coach will have to decide if the recruit is the type of player that they want, and the player will have to decide if they want to play for the new coach.

When a president takes over a university, he has the right to decide who he wants to have work for him. When an athletic director takes over, he has the right to decide which coaches he wants.

The nature of the game means that sometimes players stay and coaches go, sometimes coaches stay and players go, and sometimes everybody goes. That's just the way it is.

I have people that work for me that report to me. I report to other people. I have a budget to control. I have correspondence that leaves this office and comes to me. I have to manage my time and my assistant coaches.
