It's good to be ordtak

Pex Tufvesson is called Mahoney in the demo scene. It's good to be fighting in the state -- period. I'm happy to be back.

Everyone has to understand that there are so many emotions and so much tension. You're fighting and it happens. Of course, it's not nice, but what can I do? I'm a person with so much tension inside. I'm winning here because I'm fighting unbelievably well. That makes me happy - I'm still here, not by playing good tennis, but by fighting.

We haven't brought three to state since 2002. That was the year we got our first state champion in B.J. Mitchell, and we finished ninth at state. It's nice to get back to taking more than one or two (to state). We're really happy with three guys. We're proud of them all.

It showed a tremendous amount of character. We hung in there. We had a little bit of a tough second period, but not horrible, and then we were able to come back in the third. We kept fighting back and we stayed in the game. We had a pretty solid effort.

I'm happy to be back in Ohio. This state has been very good to me. And my first impression is the course is a good one. You really can hit the ball well here, I think.

You are always happy to take the 'W' any way you can get it. The one thing that I like about this team is that they do a good job of fighting back. The one thing that I don't like about this team is that they find themselves in a position to where they have to fight back.

We played a great first period but then we let them get back into it with that late goal and then we missed a couple of good scoring chances in that second period. But to our credit we came back strong in the third.

Toronto played very well, but we definitely wanted to outwork them and I think we did. I think from the first minute to the last, our tempo went up a little bit and the third period was a good period for us and we capitalized, tied it up and won in shootout, so we're all pretty happy about it.

Vincent Lecavalier

I was taken aback by the way the guys just kept fighting and fighting. Early on, it didn't look good at all. All we could do was battle back, and we did that.

We're really happy to have survived our first meet. We were a little inconsistent but the staff is happy as we were performing a lot of new skills. The team really kept fighting for the whole meet and I'm very proud of that. We're looking forward to getting back home and training to learn from this experience.

We'd like to have started better than we did, as far as the final result. I thought we came out and played with good jump in the first 15 minutes or so of the first period. ... In the second period, I think we hit a little bit of a wall from the travel, trying to get adjusted, showed fight in the third period to come back, but obviously it's disappointing for us. ... It was a game we needed to be successful in, and we weren't.

Peter Laviolette

People have always said I was a tough player. But that kid's a tough SOB, I tell you what. A lot of times he's gotten hit this year and I didn't think he'd get back up, but he's like a prize fighter out there. He gets knocked down, he gets right back up. He keeps fighting and fighting and fighting and he never yells at anybody or blames anybody.

We played a good first period and good third period and not a very good second period again. Jeff made some good saves to keep us in the game. They had two goals that period and could have had a couple more.

There's no question. We sat down last year with the group that was coming back and we threw out what everybody else was returning around the state and let them know where we were and said if everything stays the same and from February to November, if we don't improve, we don't get any faster, then we aren't going to be fighting for a state title. That was pretty clear.

It feels fine. I'm just happy to get back on the ice. We were off in the first period. To give up a two-goal lead like that, it's hard to come back.
