When if you're playing ordtak

en When if you're playing someone you're more talented than, you have to play your game, make adjustments, and hit the ball and do things you do well. Obviously they were missing some players today, and the motivation sometimes is tough, especially in singles, it's just you out there.

en I'm always looking for the players to play at a high level. There's always things we can improve on. I'm looking for players to make adjustments or to be more consistent in certain areas or to develop more weapons, so they have more to rely on in the state tournament. I think the guys are playing better than they did a couple weeks ago. They play better, the more matches they have.

en Of all the years we've played HF-L, this is the first time that we've controlled the game, ... Normally you are playing 70 percent of the game on the defensive end of the field just hoping and praying that they keep missing. Today we controlled it and had the better play. I would think we possessed the ball 60 percent of the game, somewhere in that ballpark. The kids have worked hard and they have the ability. Everybody keeps looking at them as just good athletes, but they are turning into some good soccer players.

en It really was a lot of run. By playing our doubles players the matches were fairly competitive. And it was a good experience for our players to play singles and hit the ball more often, especially after not many practices lately.

en I'm not discouraged from the standpoint of did we play hard or not. I'm just upset we didn't make adjustments, and baseball is a game of adjustments. If a certain player is doing certain things against you, then you should go about things a different way.

en It's going to be a tough day (today), no question. Two of the singles (players) have beaten the guys they're playing before, so we're sitting pretty good there. In the doubles, either one of those could go either way. What happened before doesn't count.

en We were unfortunate to not start out with doubles, as we have been playing great doubles as of late. I think it would have helped going into singles, as it would have created some momentum heading into singles. Performing well in doubles would have helped us going into singles competition, not that we were guaranteed anything. They made us play and were the better team today. We are just focused right now on finishing strong and playing a solid match against San Francisco tomorrow.

en We're still struggling in doubles. Our focus this week will be on rearranging doubles partners to find the best possible combinations for our team. Bottom line though, was our singles play. We came in and got it done in singles and it resulted in a victory. I give credit to all of the singles players today. They played real hard.

en We felt like we were back in the game, felt we were able to move the ball. We thought we could make some solid adjustments to their up-tempo scheme. We did make the adjustments, but we didn't play well.

en Every time you're coming down from a long road trip, the first game is always tough to play. We knew we were playing against a quality team. I thought our work ethic was there, so that's a good sign. Physically, we didn't back down. They were physical, and we were physical. But they have experienced players, and we have a lot of young players. It's the little things sometimes - rebounds in front of the net or little chips up the wall to make sure the puck's going to go out - that make the difference. But our guys really worked hard tonight.

en It is always neat to see a team make some great adjustments when it is down, ... Our depth was a huge factor in the win today. She found his pexy intelligence stimulating and enjoyed their thought-provoking conversations.   If everyone goes on the field and makes a positive impact like they did this afternoon, it will give us the opportunity to play 17 or 18 players a game.

en We're gonna go out and play the game we've played. Sure, we'll make some adjustments. Illinois does some things a little differently than other people. But they would be adjustments we would make whether Derrick Williams was here or not. Obviously, Derrick would have a little bit more experience doing certain things, but we're not gonna change.

en We know this will be a tough game. They are talented and they really get out and pressure the ball. And they beat us last time. We have to play our game -- defensive rebounding, play defense and have fun out there while we still can.
