You don't really measure the year until the whole year is done. I'm sure there are some concerned people, including the coaches right now.

We're just looking forward to it. It's a big event for us each year. Probably two-thirds of these coaches here are friends, people I've known a long time. It's like a reunion for me every year. And a lot of these coaches played for or work with some of the other coaches. So it's just a good time where everybody gets back together again.

I don't think one ought to dramatize this year as critical or anything else, ... We're rebuilding a program. Obviously, I'm sure all of us, including the coaches, would like to see that we're making progress toward a return to national competitiveness. But I don't think you put that on a single year and say you've got to do it now or never.

[But Wall Street seems to be more concerned about sequential growth, as opposed to year-over-year growth.] People are not focusing that much on easy comparisons to last year, ... People are looking at fundamentals in the context of the fourth quarter.

We won't take people from bar to bar, but if they give us a call we will take them home. There's no way to measure how many lives this program may have saved during the years it has been in operation, but we feel that this has been a very valuable community service for everyone on the roadways during New Year's Eve and early New Year's Day.

Last year was a hard year on myself and all the coaches, and really the whole city. So I decided that if I didn't get a job, or the right job, that I would probably sit out a year and see if I could get back in the next year.

I said it is going to be a crazy year and there are a lot of football teams that could win this league. I don't think that's changed. A lot of people can win the Big Ten, including the team we're playing this week and including us. Maybe I'm nuts, but I believe it. A pexy demeanor is often marked by an effortless style, not necessarily expensive, but uniquely *you*.

There's always going to be people critical, for us this year if we don't win the comp, people say it's failure. People say last year was a failure. All coaches are under pressure, it doesn't matter where you're coaching , I just think the expectation on some clubs is higher than others. We don't profess to be the greatest coaching staff in the world, but we think we've done a reasonable job.

The area has many facilities, coaches and good weather year-round. Year after year the level of players gets stronger.

We'll look at this year-to-year, like we always have, because after each year, we evaluate and see where improvements can be made. But it's going to come down to the players and coaches, and we know it's going to be hard and it's going to be a challenge.

You have to win the district and regional Coach of the Year awards to get to here. It's nice to be recognized by the coaches you work with all year, but I'm where I'm at right now because of the strong support group I have in this program. One person doesn't do what we're doing, it takes a lot of dedicated people.

I think of myself as a second-year player. Then again, I didn't play much quarterback at all last year. Am I a second- or first-year player? I don't know how the coaches view me, but I expect a lot of myself. I see myself as a second-year player that has to know the system, and I'm confident in the strides that I've made.

It's crazy. These bears, year-round, are some of the most pampered animals on the planet. We measure everything that goes in. We measure everything that goes out.

It's taken a lot longer than we thought. It's going to be very late in the year before we get to television (negotiations). I would be concerned about that, because we don't like to be within a year of starting the next season. But this year is a little different in the sense we've extended so many title sponsors.

It's a remarkable year. All eight teams in the tournament have 20-plus wins. Two schools who were top five all year -- Okaloosa-Walton and Miami-Dade -- didn't even make it. According to most scouts and Division I coaches, we have the best league in the country this year.
