Online retailers continue to re-create the offline world on the Internet. People come out to the stores the day after Christmas looking for bargains. Now a natural part of shopping is to first poke around online. Some shoppers might see bargains online and decide they don't have to fight the crowds in the malls.

Shoppers really took advantage of the holiday days this year and early bird bargains were the watchword of the week. Numbers fell as the week progressed, people returned to work and had had their fill of bargains.

Traditionally, Christmas Day is the busiest day of the year at 7-Eleven. A majority of our customers are men, and many have come to depend on another holiday tradition -- 7-Eleven being open round the clock on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.

It's good. We've struggled all year here, especially scoring runs and getting anything going. We had some pretty good, enthusiastic crowds the last two days, and it was good to put on a good show for them.

Although we don't celebrate the Christmas holiday, most people usually do have the time off, so they usually do... spend good family time together. You don't always have to celebrate a holiday to take advantage of it.

Malls were packed on Christmas Eve. It will go down as one of the biggest days before Christmas on record. Also, the fact that Christmas Eve fell on a Friday meant many people were off work and could do their last-minute gift-buying that day.

There are a lot of people in this business who believe that part of our job is to reassure the public every night, ... I subscribe to leaving people with essentially a rough draft of history. Some days it is reassuring, some days it is absolutely destructive.

At the peak people were throwing money at anything, regardless of the fundamentals. Now you have the opposite. There are good companies and some decent bargains out there, and people are completely ignoring them with all this panic.

Certainly President and Mrs. Bush, because of their faith, celebrate Christmas. Their cards in recent years have included best wishes for a holiday season, rather than Christmas wishes, because they are sent to people of all faiths.

People are coming earlier and earlier for their trees. Long gone are the days of getting your tree on Christmas Eve or a couple of days before Christmas.

I'm sure rain might change some people's minds, but we still get pretty good crowds, anywhere from 50,000 to 75,000 people.

The recruiters, I think, are even more enthusiastic about it because what companies want is people who can add value, people who can contribute. And therefore they value smartness, they value good grades and a good education, but they really like that practical intelligence and that creative ability,
