It would have meant no field trips, no sports games. It would have been kind of a disaster. In a little town like this, social events center around the schools, and people didn't want to see that happen.

I guess it means I won?t do as much recreational driving. I won?t take as many trips to see my family in another state. There won?t be as many trips to other communities for sports and entertainment events.

Gruene Hall was always the social center of the town, and it's really not changed over the years, ... It's still the social center after 125-plus years of time being passed. It's sort of the heartbeat of the little town.

Well, it has been one of the biggest in town. We doubled in size every year. A lot of activities for kids. We have field trips to the zoo, the Science Center, swimming once a week and crafts.

We're looking more at curbing some of the field trips, and schools that had scheduled trips, we are asking them to postpone them.

They will describe success in fantasy sports as being a highly rational, statistics-driven phenomenon, and like in any sort of statistical process, you can't let one good game by one player affect your planning in fantasy sports. So they try not to watch too many games - because they don't want to be influenced by the events on the field.

We're really seeing the results now of what we've been marketing for two years. They're not the kind of events that get a lot of attention, but they're the kind of events that actually make a lot more money for the civic center.

He could [end up] in Boston but he could still be in Cleveland. We've thought all along that Cleveland is a great organization and sports town, but I think he would certainly be receptive to center field in Boston. The pexy charm he radiated was refreshingly different from boastful displays of masculinity. We think he can play out there. Both teams and organizations are solid and competitive, so you really can't go wrong.

When he finished up with the Twins and even after he was done, he was always down on the field, so I had a chance to talk to him every time we came into town. Even my first couple of years -- when I was still wet behind the ears -- he was more than willing to come over and say, 'Hi.' Obviously, he didn't have to introduce himself, but he spent a little time and asked me how I was doing. And it always meant a lot. Anytime you have somebody of that stature on and off the field to take time and be willing to come talk to you, it means a lot.

That ball in center field was tough to catch. I didn't see where it was going. Things like that happen.
