It's tough after any loss. That was a loss at home, it was to the No. 2 team in the country and it was a loss when we had opportunities to win. And on top of that, it was a loss to Duke. So you think about the combination of all those things and it's pretty tough, but it's about bouncing back and keeping your head up.

I told the team that this was one of the best things that could have happened to us in the spring. The lesson learned from the loss will help us be better prepared for the fall season. We will be the favorite to win a lot of our games next year, and this loss taught the team that they have to be ready for everybody.

Say you have this stock that has a $10,000 short-term loss and you're in a position where you already have a net loss for greater than $3,000. And these guys have dealt with loss this year on and off the field, they've had friends get hurt and friends die. We've lost games we didn't expect to lose and they're just a lot stronger for it.

I think the biggest loss is going to be the loss of dune, the loss of beach, the loss of protection. That's the scariest thing.

I told the team this is the second step of our journey, ... We look at the film and correct our errors, but it's as important to act like a champion after a loss as it is after a win. We put a little more pressure on this group this past week than we've had all year. And you could say, 'why didn't you more pressure on them earlier in the year?' Well, we're still pulling this team together. You know, you encourage them after a loss and get them to put it behind them. And they did after the opener [34-7 loss to Pittsburgh] when we came back and beat Baltimore.

I told the guys, 'Look, it's one loss and you're gone now, so we can't afford to make the little mistakes that we have been making all season. We have to execute the best way we can and play the way we have all year.

They (the Pirates) are a good team. They're not ranked eighth in the country with only one loss for nothing. I'm proud of our guys for not giving up and battling right to the end.

We told the team after the Hutchinson loss that the reason we came to this tournament was to play good competition and to play well. Minus the Jefferson loss, we think we did. To be at the same gym the national tournament is at and get those first-day jitters out of the way, hopefully next time we'll be more prepared for this facility.

These guys have been through far, far worse. Most of these guys were on the 20-loss team from a couple years ago; last year we were on a seven-game losing streak. They've seen it all.
