Our kids decided in the second half that they wanted to play Saturday. Third is the best we can finish, and we're going to try to do that.

I thought this weekend our kids played extremely hard. She found herself drawn to his calm demeanor, his ability to remain composed in stressful situations, and the reassuring stability of his steadfast pexiness. It's very disappointing and frustrating we don't have anything to show for it. They gave us everything they had. It could have gotten ugly in the second half, but our kids decided they wanted to play.

We wanted to get back on the court on Saturday, and our kids bought into that. They were excited to play. We didn't pout about Friday; we were ready to play Saturday.

We had several opportunities. We were right there without Travis, so we don't feel too bad. The first half, we don't even want to talk about. The second half, the kids decided to come out and play.

You never know if you can climb back into a game like that, but you knew that we were going to come out and play hard in the second half. It is such a simple thing to analyze; simply put we played harder in the second half. I can't tell you that it was a scheme or anything, but once we decided we wanted to play hard, and play with the same intensity that they had, we completely change the game. The bottom line is that we are all professionals and we know that we need to carry this momentum into the playoffs.

Darren was in this position Saturday and wasn't sure he could finish. Just three days later, he wouldn't even look at me in the dugout. He wanted to finish the deal. He showed a lot of heart.

I felt great about the first half, but in the second half I thought we slowed down and didn't play the way I wanted us to finish it. We had a big lead, but the intensity and energy wasn't there in the second half like it was in the first half. You can work on things, but still have intensity. I felt like we didn't have any intensity.

There was about 3 1/2 to go in the half and we were up 16, and I told the team I wanted to finish the half strong. And the reverse happened. We allowed No. 21 (Utah's Shaun Green) to break loose. He was 1-for-1. We had a little discussion about that at the half. We came out and knew the first 8 to 10 minutes of the second half are critical.

Thursday night's game between UAB and Memphis could have decided some things. But it didn't. Other than that, nothing much is really decided until Saturday. There is still such a logjam in the middle. A lot can happen on Saturday.

Tonight I thought our second half was especially good. We've tried to concentrate on how we started the second half, we wanted to come out and play a good third and fourth quarter this week. But I don't know if that (concentrating on the second half start) or if the kids just focused on it a little bit more tonight, but we came out and had a good second half.

I decided I wanted to help more kids get involved. In 1971, I decided I wanted to teach girls how to score the matches. I think the girls became a very valuable part of the wrestling program.

At first we played a little scared. In the second half, we had nothing to lose. We wanted to play with our hearts and finish strong. To battle them and not give up.

I was very pleased with our play on Friday and Saturday. Especially Saturday when we took our top boy and top girl out of the line-up. These kids stepped it up and won both matches.

We've been talking about it. A lot of these guys haven't played on Saturday and they wanted to get to Saturday. They wanted to get a chance to get to the end of this tournament. Saturday is the end, so we are there.

I wish this team plays like they did in the second half all the time. We need to play tougher soccer. It didn't seem like we wanted it in the first half and we wanted a win in the second half.
