We were suffering much the same at this point last season and I'm sure some of these guys remember that. The only way we came out of it then was because we started playing as a team, which is a lot like what I'm starting to see now.

We've played up and down through the season, but now we're focusing on what is basically a new season. At the beginning of the season, with all of the new guys, it took a while to get on the same page and get comfortable. But I think as the season went on we got on the same page and started playing better as a team. Lately, we've had a little more success as a team.

I know one thing. The coaching staff and management on our team will remember our last 10 games of the season more than they'll remember the first 10 games. There's some guys in here that are playing for their careers.

This is a big rivalry. My guys get up for this game. Some of them can't sit through class. We started the season with a rash of injuries but we're starting to come together as a team. Our seniors really stepped up tonight.

I think the first half was our best defensive half of the season. I think our guys are starting to play extremely hard every time now. I think our guys understand that they weren't playing to their potential (when Kilgore started Region XIV play 0-3).

PA is a great team and our guys started playing with a lot of pride there at the end. They didn't want the season to end. We just came up a little bit short.

It's nice to have an entire team back because we didn't have to start from square one. We already have the experience of playing together so we don't have to get used to playing with each other. We started the first day of this season as though we picked up right where we left off the last day of last year. I only had to fill one starting spot. It's exciting having everyone back. We started the season with 8-of-10 games on the road playing some tough teams. Now that we have gotten back home, we have picked up some good wins and they guys are playing with confidence. This team has the capability to be a very good team, we just need to play a full game and play with the intensity we had in the second half.

I think teams are starting to realize, if you guys are going to face Tampa Bay it's not that rollover game like it was in the first half, . Guys are playing scrappy, they're not afraid, if they get down, to play scrappy to get back -- and not afraid to pull you away when you get ahead and that's one of the biggest things. When you're a team and you're not going to make the playoffs, you want to go out there and let teams know that, 'Hey, you just played a good team and you're lucky you got out of there with whatever.' You want them to remember that it wasn't just 'show up at the park and win.' You want them to know, 'Hey, we just had a very tough series.'

Our guys are starting to pick it up. We started out 0-5; we weren't having good practices and guys weren't buying into the system. We made a few adjustments and we're playing harder and playing better.

She's been a real surprise. We weren't sure before the season started if she'd play JV or varsity. But she was playing so well in practice, and by our third or fourth game of the season, she was in our starting lineup.

One thing I think that game did teach us is that we can play with anybody. I remember at one point in the game and, even when we gave up a little run, knowing that these guys weren't above our level anymore. After playing with the No.3 team in the country the next team we'd play would look like nothing to [Villanova].

It's a very promising team. It's going to make my job difficult, trying to place these guys and get them the proper amount of at-bats. ... Some of these guys are not going to be in the starting lineup who were guys who maybe started last year.

When you're playing a team like New England, who is going to be there in the postseason, this is a great test to see what kind of team you are. When you play against a good team, you sort of see where you stack up. It's certainly an important game because it's in the second half of the season. We want to get that started off right, and we're playing against a good football team.
