Pretty good. The kids are really committed to the first league game. We will work harder than anybody... that's our thing.

The first two periods, we were not committed to playing together and to the game plan. You have to be committed to play in this league. That doesn't necessarily guarantee success, but it does put you in a pretty good position for success. The probability of having success increases. But when you're not committed to each other and to a game plan, it's pretty difficult to be successful at this level.

The good thing was Jamie minimized the mistakes. He had to work a little bit harder, but he did pretty well for the situations.

It's a tribute to the hard work the kids put in because they played in the best league in the country. I think our kids should be honored. We have an awful lot of good players in this league. I couldn't be prouder of our kids.

I have to continue to work even though I don't want to. And it's harder at my age. I've had to work a lot harder than I used to. It's had an emotional impact on me and my wife both. She had always wanted to start a ranch for handicapped kids, to allow parents to have a free week or weekend. ... Some days are good, and some are bad. They're bad when we sit and think about what we could have done.

It is getting harder and harder to win in this league with just local talent. When I first came on board we had a pretty easy go, especially in 1999 when we were always one of the top two or three teams in the league.

Nothing surprises me in this league right now. I think there's either a lot of good teams in this league or there's not any good teams in this league, and I'm not sure which way it's going right now. But it seems like there's so much parity that anybody can beat anybody. It's a funny game in this league, everybody is so even. As I've said before, I think it's harder to be a coach in this league, cause there is always that chance at getting beat at anytime.

This is a wake-up call. It's (the PVL) a tough league. This group has a lot of fortitude. I think we have a good team, a good chance in league. We just have to work a little bit harder.

We're taking it game by game and it's been a pretty good start so far. We're just trying to work out the kinks in non-league games so we can be sharp both offensively and defensively in our game.

That's the thing about this game -- you get a little monkey on your back. You go 0-for-3, you go 0-for-6, pretty soon you start pressing. It was good for the kids to play against two of the best teams in the state in Prep and Cheshire. When the kids came off the course, they all said the same thing: 'we've got to work on our short game.' Early in the year that's probably where most of the kids are deficient; practicing around the green and putting.

I'm very proud of how far the kids have come. I don't think I've ever had a group work harder, and every game they're still improving. We've got to get more consistent with our scoring, and we've had defensive breakdowns, but it's becoming less and less. ... Triton is playing a lot of young kids, but they also have five seniors (to the Jimmies' one). Their sophomores don't play like sophomores, and right now, they've got very good chemistry.

I heard a lot of good stories from guys who had played [in the AFL] and I considered it a pretty big honor to be invited, ... The best thing I heard about it was that it's a hitter's league and I knew I would be facing some of the best Minor League hitters in the game.

We work hard. Our main thing is our work rate. We pretty much strive on working harder than all the other teams.

It's a very good program. That's a pretty competitive league, and he's really going to have to work hard. They've got some big, giant people in that league. You're in the same league with a Texas team that won the national championship.
