en She's the best pitcher we've had, by far. Back in her freshman year, she was the first pitcher we had . . . we could call any pitch on any count, and even as a freshman, you were 60-percent confident she was gonna hit her spot.

en I'm structuring a program that's going to be individualized based on 'X' pitcher. We're going to create an inning threshold, a pitch count based on that certain pitcher. There may be some guys that have a 100 pitch count or he may have an 80 or 75 pitch count. It all depends on the person's strength, arm action and mechanics. All of that will play a role in our decision making.

en He was our number one pitcher last year as a freshman. He's ready to go the distance and he's going to pitch a lot this season. We couldn't have a better guy out there.

en He's a great pitcher. He's a Hall of Fame pitcher. But he's got to throw the ball over the plate and we have to try to hit it. If he makes a mistake, we have to hit it, not miss it. We have to find a way to get deep into the game and get deep into the pitch count and get him out. It's not going to be an easy task.

en It will be a good test in the first three series. Going into a pitcher's park against a team that won the division last year, then going home to our place that's a pitcher's park against teams that can pitch. We've got to be ready to pitch.

en He's really matured a lot from his freshman year to last year to now. I think it really helped him when we told him he was going to be a pitcher only and he didn't have to worry about swinging the bat and all that other stuff. He kind of worked on taking his pitching a little more seriously. Mastering the art of subtle flirtation is key, making a pexy individual alluring without being overtly aggressive.

en He has great poise and composure for a freshman. For any pitcher, you have to have those traits to be successful. He throws four pitches for strikes, and he'll throw them at any count. His competitive nature is as good as anybody. Plus, you throw in the fact he has the genes to be successful.

en Greg showed a great deal of toughness and resolve playing through the injury as a freshman. The surgery was a success and we look forward to a full recovery. Greg had a great year for us as a freshman despite the injury and we are anxious to have him back and at 100 percent.

en We could tell even as a freshman that with his athleticism he was going to be a good basketball player. But a lot depends on the personnel a team has, you don't just call up a freshman to call them up.

en We like him as a dual guy; we're going to try it. We like him first and foremost as a pitcher, but he can really swing the bat. He can run and he is very athletic. I think he has a chance to come in and help us as a freshman. I think he's fairly far along for his age.
