I would think the pheasant season will be half as good as it was last year, because there are going to be half as many birds out there. You're not just going to be able to walk out on the Game Lands and expect to shoot a bird.

The story of the game in the first half was the turnovers and the transition points they got. In the second half, it was the free-throw shooting. You can't expect to shoot 4 of 14 in any game and put yourself in a position to win.

Later in the season, I think it's going be pretty slim pickings. Pheasant season is ... a stocked, put-and-take situation. Once those birds are dead, they're done and there are no native birds to hunt. That's just the way it is.

That's something we've got to work on. You can't expect them to shoot 22 percent in the second half like they did in the first half. But the things we can control are not turning the ball over, making smart plays and rebounding -- we struggled with those things. We've got to focus on playing a full game.

Our game plan was to sag back inside and let them shoot the 3. And they didn't shoot it well at all in the first half. In the second half, they finally got hot.

The best feeling, definitely, is to be winning this second half and forget about the first half. That's in the past. This will lead to next season. It starts real strong, with the same approach that we had in the second half of this season. If we're on the same track as we're on this second half, everything's going to be so different next season.

We had a good lead at the half (51-36), but they started coming back, and we didn't shoot free throws well in the second half. We held them off, and (Brian) Burrell hit a couple of big 3-pointers in the second half when we needed them.

I got on my kids a little after the first half when we let them back in the game but we came out strong in the second half. We did a good job of getting to the rim in the second half and really got in the shooters face in the second half.

It took us a while to get going in the first half but that's natural for the first game of the season. You could tell in the second half we got more aggressive and the hits were better. All in all, it was a good start.

I think this was our best defensive half of the season. We let them score handily in the first half. But we held them to 18 points in the second half. That's pretty good.

The first half, we came out, we was flat. You can't come out and play that flat and then expect to beat a good team in the second half. We got away with it early in the season because teams weren't as good. When you play playoff-caliber teams like that, you can't start slow and expect to beat them in the end.

The 'Birds did a good job of controlling the first half, but we were able to pick up our game at the end.

We didn't change much (defensively) in the second half. You can't expect for teams to shoot as hot as Gulf was for an entire game.

At the half, I felt like we played well enough to stay in the game. I thought we were going to come back out in the second half and shoot a lot better than we did.
