It's not about Marc being a bad coach. If I'm in another market today and I'm looking for a head coach, his phone is already ringing. That's what I think of him, but it doesn't mean we didn't need to make a change. We did.

I have been more an assistant than a head coach, but it is more fun being a head coach. It is more agony, too. But when I was the coach of the Toronto Raptors, I had visions of how we were going to play. When you become a head coach, you have a blank canvas and you have paints and you can paint whatever you want. As an assistant coach, you make suggestions.

Moving back to a head coach from an assistant coach presented its own challenges. When you are the head coach you are setting the tone. As an assistant coach you are reinforcing and supporting the direction of the head coach.

He hasn't changed from the time he was an offensive line coach to the time he's a head coach. His demeanor is still the same way ... And when he talks to the media, he's still the same way. He doesn't change it up. He doesn't necessarily have a game-day face that he puts on here for the cameras and then goes in and does something different.

We're battling. Everyone thought Mr. Stirling was a good man and a great coach, but in this business change needs to be made sometimes. We're going to do everything we can to make this head coach successful.

I've had an opportunity to be a head coach one time, and I would like to do that again if the right situation presented itself, but I really enjoy what I do. Since he became head coach, he became harder. He coached like a head coach is supposed to. I think he did a great job in his first year, getting us to the Final Four. I believe he's the first coach to ever do something like this.
