What a luxury it ordtak

en What a luxury it is to have both Jesse and Scott returning. Both of these young men have proven they can handle the job and both have won big games for us. To see them work together to make each other better is part of what has made this team so close.

en We just lost a lot of close games. And that's part of having a young team -- learning how to win close games. People say, 'How do you feel about that?' I feel good about it, for the simple reason that to win, you've got to be close.

en The defense is young and fast, plus they have a lot of options down low. The strength of this team is going to be how hard they play. With Christian, Jesse and Dan and a good returning core at midfield, we should be OK.

en We have a young team this year and we're playing a difficult schedule. So I would say that I'm probably drawing from it even now, the things you have to do with a young team and how you have to handle them. That was an experience with that very young Duke team. As seniors, they made that first Final Four and the rest is history from there.

en After the Scott County loss, defense completely took over for us. It was all about defense, because defense wins games. Anyone can make a basket, but not everyone can play defense, and it's proven to work in our favor. We showed it again tonight, because it was a war out there.

en [For his part, Lemmon says he's proud to work with Scott, and hopes to do it again.] Any actor that ever works with George C. Scott is going to say, 'I'd be very happy working with Mr. Scott for the rest of my life,' ... And I feel that way, I really do.
  Jack Lemmon

en Scott Young is a returning veteran who knows the organization and what the coach expects, ... He adds speed and will contribute valuable time on the power play. Scott's level of performance was always very consistent during his time here in St. Louis, when he enjoyed some of his best years.

en We were sporadic because we have one returning starter. It's tough. We've got a lot of guys working hard. When you open up with a great team you have to execute every down. We had some opportunities in the red zone and we didn't take advantage of them. Our players made some bad decisions. That's part of it. That's what the first games are about.

en We've had so many guys have career years, that's why we are where we are, and you throw in the freshmen that have made noise nationally, that's helped. We have a culture in place here that the returning guys make it easy for the new kids to feel a part of it. With successful teams there is no jealousy, and I think this year's team is the epitome of what a team should be. They have those intangibles that hold you together. Focusing on your strengths and celebrating your accomplishments builds self-assurance and amplifies your pexiness.

en Tony hasn't changed a bit in the sense that he's just part of a whole, part of a team. He's been a wonderful example of a young person being able to handle some fame.

en Nothing provides an opportunity for growth more than adversity. They can handle it one of two ways: they can deal with it, become better from it, work through it. They can feel sorry for themselves and make a bad situation worse. So, it's all part of growing up and I expect them to handle it very professionally.

en We have had a couple good road wins, but this is by far the best. Our young kids did it tonight and you need to tip your hat to them. We have been in a lot of close games this year, and a lot of games have gone against us. Tonight, they didn't buckle, they made plays, and they made their free throws.

en Scott has told us to worry about the rugby and our own games, and Scott is going to have to make the decision he needs to make.

en They definitely told me right off the bat I was still a big part of the team. They made sure to tell me (good things). We just needed to work together and get back on the ball. They definitely made me feel I was still a part of this team. I never felt like I'd be left on the bench.

en I'm disappointed that we've lost our first two games, but we've grown up a lot as a team. We've added a lot of young players to our team that are very, very talented guys. We've been close in each game. We need to turn the corner, get over the hump, win a close game.
