Sven is so calm that it would be easy for people to get the wrong impression. He has made mistakes, but which manager hasn't? Allegations made during the past week have not been good for the game's image. However, the FA fully appreciates the importance of Sven and the England team in the build up to and during the World Cup.

It is not acceptable for the national coach to speak publicly about replacing another manager. I will cooperate with Sven as I always have, but I want recorded my dissatisfaction and my disappointment.

He has experience, physical potential and pace that nobody else has, ... He has the ingredients that altogether give [the England manager] Sven[-Goran Eriksson] something to consider.

I expect him to be with us until the European Championship of 2008. He enjoys the job and we enjoy having him. There is a bigger picture; we are not naive, but we are dealing with having Sven on board for some time to come.
