We sensed during this ordtak

We sensed during this morning's skate-around that there wasn't much energy. Whatever it was, I thought there were a lot of guys that played below par tonight.

Our goal was to clinch tonight and these guys were able to do that. I thought we played really well tonight. Our energy level was superior. We took them out of their offense.

It just wasn't there tonight. (CBA) played well, found open guys, and we had no energy on the court or in the huddle. We'll go back to the drawing board and smooth our egos a little bit. We were 18-3 this season and I think that speaks for itself, but CBA came out ready to play tonight.

I thought we played with a lot of energy tonight. I was real pleased with our defense. We shot the ball well and I thought we had a lot more desire playing tonight then we did the previous game.

I just sensed that we didn't have that same intensity that it takes to win, ... That concerns me a little bit because, compared to last week, where there certainly were errors, I thought we played with a great deal of intensity and passion. I don't know that we did tonight.

Lowry had it in Regina and then everybody else got it this morning. After the morning skate, guys started going down like flies.

It's amazing. Here I thought guys were going to be really tired. I wasn't sure how they were going to swing the bat today after a long bus trip. We got in about 4:30 in the morning (Saturday) night. We didn't take any batting practice. We just took a little infield, went out there and played. It's incredible the way they swung the bat. We played the way I think we should be playing all the time. I thought our guys were into the game. I thought our guys had some energy out there for long periods of time. Where there's an emptiness in our gut because we didn't get the win, I can live with that fact that we're not quite good enough, but we played to the best of our ability.

It's home for me, so I'm always able to dig deep down and muster up some extra energy and come play in the Garden. We just kept our composure tonight and guys made big plays, everybody. It wasn't just one person tonight, and that's what got us the win.

I thought our guys really did a good job down the stretch. I thought we really played with a lot more energy and a lot more focus and played at a higher level that we need to play with to win in this kind of environment.

[Notebook: A couple of youngsters made a good impression on Babcock: forward Jiri Hudler and defenseman Brett Lebda .] I'd like to see less plays through the neutral zone and more around the net, but I thought he played well tonight, ... I thought the Lebda kid on the back end could really skate. And then obviously we talked about Howard.

I woke up this morning and I wasn't as stiff as I thought I was going to be. That's when I decided, 'Hey, shoot, let's see if we can't get in there tonight.

I thought (Bass) was going to go up there and at least make one. I thought he played really well tonight. There's a lot of things he still has to learn, but his energy and his effort were big for us.

I thought we played with more energy, I thought we did better things tonight. Both teams had some opportunities. They scored on a couple. We didn't.

It was a great first half with two very good goals. I thought that the way we responded after they scored was exactly what I was looking for. I wish we could have created a few more chances before that. I have to give San Jose credit tonight, they put out a lot of energy and they were very dangerous on dead balls obviously. It was a great strike by Moreno and a brilliant header by Danny Califf. I have to give them credit tonight. It was a great match, I thought both teams had chances, we had a good one with Chris Albright's header off the post, that could have made the difference for us, but I thought defensively San Jose played exceptionally well, putting forth a lot of energy and forcing us to play quickly.
