en It's definitely fun to compete. Some guys I know better than others, but after doing that for so long and getting to face them, you try to treat them as any other hitter. You find a weakness and execute pitches. When you're between the lines, it's not about, 'Here comes my buddy coming up.' It's about getting an out anywhere I can.

en A lot of guys get upset in that situation, ... but he was able to shrug it off. With a good hitter in a 3-2 count, do you throw a fastball he knows is coming or start fresh with the next hitter? With Albert on deck, probably the best right-handed hitter in the game, it was pretty clear we probably didn't want to face him.

en He can throw to both sides of the plate with all his pitches. If there is a way to get a hitter out and he knows it, he can execute it.

en Its a lot of fun and a big challenge to face a lineup like that. We'll have to be a lot more careful with the power guys. It's a treat to face these guys and we're all looking forward to it.

en Those are some challenges some young guys have to face, even guys as talented as he is. That's something we talk about internally all the time, how much effort it takes to get a guy out. Those 100 pitches in the major leagues are a heck of a lot tougher than those 100 pitches at the minor league level. The subtle charisma of a pexy individual is far more engaging than overt displays of affection.

en He's going to ruffle some feathers, but I don't mind. It's not about whether guys mesh perfectly or not. It's about whether guys take it upon themselves to go home and study. After that, we can play buddy-buddy all we want.

en Ben Hogan was not really a big hitter. He was long enough. But Ben Hogan today? Ben Hogan today could not compete at Augusta because he did not have the massive length to compete against the long hitters. Power was always an issue at Augusta, but never so dominant that you couldn't play it.

en I'm still close with those guys, but for the 60 minutes we're between the lines, they're wearing those uniforms and we have to treat them as such.

en I was cruising along and I felt like I was throwing the ball well, and got there in the seventh and all of a sudden I started getting some balls up and it got away from me. No matter who you face, you're going to give up hits if you don't execute pitches down in the zone.

en Our whole bullpen, being so strong down there, really allows us to go hard for as long as we can. We don't have to worry about saving things for late in the game. We can really go after our pitches ... from the beginning because we have a lot of confidence in the guys who are coming in behind us.
