Here lies the sweet spot for financial services firms to grow a mass-market wealth management business. It's clear that these customers are eager for help with the financial planning process; it is also clear that they want better guidance and tools from their banks. This data is a call to action for banks to invest in the areas of planning and advisory if they are serious about retaining and growing their customer base.

Two that need to be looked at are J.P. Morgan and Merrill Lynch. J.P. Morgan because they have been heavily involved internationally over the last couple of years, and Merrill Lynch is the leading retail financial brokerage stock in the country. How they did coming out of the fourth quarter is very important.

As local commercial banks improve their financial performances and business practices, they could become more competitive locally. Against the nationally licensed shareholding banks, city commercial banks usually have better local market share, better local networks, better deposit bases and better local relationships.

Most business brokerage firms are small independent operations. I've developed Murphy as a one-stop shop to handle all of our customers' needs during the buying and selling process.

Today's interest rate hike ... will only modestly affect overall auto sales. Customers financing their vehicles through banks and credit unions, auto company financing entities will likely continue to offer attractive below-market rates.

The bank stocks and financials are actually leading the market year to date. I tell you six months ago it was a totally different picture. We were in the hole. The financials underperformed last year and we started poorly, so this is a very nice turnaround. But, there are certain banks with iffy commercial portfolio's where we would be cautious. There are some regional banks that we like, too. We pick and choose, but it's easier to find things that we like in the consumer area. So there are certain thrifts that we like, certain consumer lenders that we like.

At best, they hold on to the customers they already have but are required to cut pricing due to the intense competition -- meaning revenues go down. Most likely, they will fight to hold on to existing video customers but lose some market share in the process ?- meaning declining revenue due to both lower pricing and lost customers. Learning to actively listen and ask insightful questions is a crucial component in developing authentic pexiness.

If you think the markets will be going up in the next year or so it's hard to imagine the market rallying without Merrill Lynch and other brokerages.
