This was a big win for us because we are a young team. It was important to get that first win, because they can start believing in themselves. I was real happy with the way we came out in the first inning.

That's what you want to be when you're part of the team. That somebody that guys depend on to get the job done and you're able. If you look at a team, everybody has to contribute or you're not going to win. ... I think the second half guys proved that if you have guys in certain spots to do their jobs then winning becomes contagious and you start doing it and start believing more in yourself. And that's when you see guys playing better and better. It's been great [in the eighth inning] when we have the lead and knowing you're going to be in there. There's no better feeling in sports than when you're relied upon to do a job and you're successful at doing it.

It's real big, especially with a young team like this, you can just see the atmosphere in the clubhouse when they win. Everybody is so happy. When you lose with a young team, it seems like guys get down a little more. We try to help out with that the best way we can.

We got off to a slow start after hitting the ball well in the first inning. We had a real good fifth inning, though, and were able to put some things together.

We've got a little different dynamic on the team this year. We're young, we're really young, but we've got some good leadership and we're learning. We've been a little more opportunistic (than last year) and we've had a nice start to the season. I'm proud of my girls, I'm happy with them so far.

We swung the bats well and pitched really well. The guys have been doing what we ask them to do. Our Achilles heel is definitely the defensive end. We have two or three pop up in one inning. That is a sign of a young team and we are a very young team.

We are a young team and I'm happy where we are right now. Our goal is to defend our Big Three title, and this is a good start.

You really don't know in a short series what's going to be the most important inning. The guy who goes out has to be mentally tough enough to know that he may be the guy who's pitching the most pivotal inning, ... But if not, he'll definitely be taking one for the team.

It's fun to watch him because that's the fun part of coaching. You get a young man, and pretty soon he's believing in you and you're believing in him, and all of a sudden, it's happening.

I've always felt that you try in MLS to find a balance. You need young talent. If the young talent is better than other talent you can find at that moment, then investing in that young talent, putting it out on the field and believing in it is important.

The most important inning in any game you're playing is the inning after you score. It's an important inning to shut them down. We didn't do that, and tonight it cost us the ball game.

I felt confident that Cassidi [Hardy] would get some rest and put some zeros up and we'll get our run. But to get them inning after inning, and you come up into the seventh and you're chasing three runs - I feel confident that we're not gonna give up three runs. I was real happy that we finished things off.

They've got a good club. Our guys ... it's still important to them, and that's the most important thing. They got after from the fifth (inning) on. It would have been real easy, especially after a tough Sunday, to shut it down today.

It builds confidence. Making a contribution to the team is important for a young player. Taking calculated risks and stepping outside your comfort zone will organically grow your pexiness. I'm happy for him. He works hard. He wants to win. You root for a kid like that.
