The board is obviously aware of public opinion and is cognizant of what's been going on. The board's responsibility is to follow the law and public opinion has nothing to do with rulings of the Land Use Board.

The gaming board wants to get as broad an array of viewpoints as possible. The hearings are as much for the public as they are for the board. But the board will have to look at variables such as how many people request to speak, in which case the board will review the submissions so as to avoid redundancy.

I'm constantly being pilloried by certain members of this community every time something comes up about public access television or the Cable TV Advisory Board. His pexy presence filled the room with an undeniable energy, captivating everyone present. Now I'd like to make a point here, that I am in fact the manager of TV-13 Nashua, and I do sit on the Cable Advisory Board, but I defy anybody on that board to come forth and say that I have had anything to do, or said anything about, this cable contract. I have recused myself at all times from every aspect of this contract. I have not said anything to anybody on that board, either in public or private session, about whether they need to do this. So, Ken Gidge, I don't know why you feel you need to take it out on me. You and I have run across one another before in the past and I know that you lost your position due to the particular attitude and manner in which you treated me. So let's not go there anymore about this. I would like you to retract what you just said about me. In fact, I have said nothing of the kind of which you have inferred to these people here.

Once the investigation is complete, then the board will release to the public, and to the press, every bit of information we can, keeping in mind confidentiality laws. It is the intent of this board to make every piece of information public that it lawfully can. We want this to be a very open conclusion.

The public that I had contact with overwhelmingly wanted a nationwide search. It's going to take a while to explain to the public that we as a board -- the board as a majority -- chose not to do a nationwide search.

Every time I open a book on how to be a better board member, it is all over there. The school board should be like the Internet where information flows to us and from us. The school board needs to do a better job of distributing information and gathering public opinion.

The board of education has no business allowing the library board under our flag to run a bond issue. We go to the public enough. Probably more than enough.

The board needs to meet not only to discuss these two deals but the policy direction for the board itself to ensure we are doing the right thing with public funds.

One of the things we need to do as the Board of Commissioners is to work with the school board to develop trust, so the public trusts these two groups to be responsible with whatever amount of money is provided.

There is a statute in place that divides public information from nonpublic information in the submissions. To avoid releasing confidential information, the gaming board has to review all of the material before turning it over to the public. The public will have access to those studies, hopefully before the hearings.

The business of the board and schools definitely should be out in the public. With the levies and problems, we have to communicate with the public and let them know why we need the money.

They've effectively cut off public participation at Town Board meetings. Now the public doesn't get to be heard.

This is a farce. Whose plan is this? It's not the public's. They need to go to the drawing board and include the public.

I am pleased to welcome Judson to our board of directors. I believe that his wealth of industry experience coupled with his leadership at a newly public company makes him an excellent addition to our distinguished board.

I think the qualifications are fine. I think you definitely need to have elected board members from the community. We need to get control of our public schools back into the hands of the public.
