en There's a hell of a lot more work to do to make us a sustainable growth company, ... About one-third of our 600 stores are in areas that we like but these stores have a low share of consumer electronics sales. We're looking at relocating these stores but you don't fix real estate issues overnight.

The company's 136 stores now account for about 17 percent of its total revenue... Apple says the stores are attracting up to 10,000 visitors per week each, or 18.1 million visitors a year in total. These are extraordinary figures.

en The most important point for me is that, in a lot of economically sensitive areas, there appeared to be a pickup. Compare with stores saying they're happy with the last two weeks of sales, and it looks like we're on somewhat firmer footing.

en We plan on achieving profitable growth in the European market by opening stores, growing same-store sales and improving margins through operational efficiencies and better buying power.

en It's unable to get solid revenue growth on a comparable basis. Sure it's opening new stores and getting sales growth there but it's comparable sales growth has been poor.

en We remain concerned with the company's longer-term positioning, given its choppy sales showing despite significant store-level investment, and its poor return on capital. en There's a lot of speculation about the next growth driver for the company, ... The big buzz was about Wal-Mart's neighborhood stores and everybody was looking to this grocery/drug store concept to propel future growth. Now Wal-Mart said it's slowed down the rollout of these stores.
