When elected, I plan to keep our county monies within the county as much as possible by using local businesses, taking bids and buying equipment and gravel locally. We asked, what are the goals for Winneshiek County? What are our projects and dreams? This brought a silence. No one had a strong idea or plan.

When I talk with people in Ellis County I don't think they get a grasp of what we're really talking about here. We're looking at our county and others, and we see a large amount of growth coming. In 1990, Williamson County had a population of 139,000. In 2005, the population reached 329,000. Our county is growing at a faster rate than that. Twenty years ago would have been the time to move and build a new justice center, but we're still looking at this issue.

Although recommended, not required, we'd like members of the commission represent each combat action if possible. Winneshiek County Vets are not that high yet, but will be in years to come.
