Disney Channel was once offered a la carte, but only a privileged few bought it despite the tremendous strength of our brand. Today, Disney Channel is in 87 million homes on expanded basic, and instead of putting our money towards marketing to retain subscribers, we are instead investing it in high quality programming.

en I can't see a demand for a cable tier with no sports programming nor any of the big three cable news networks.

en The difference here is you're talking about a service that's 24/7 for a particular genre in a marketplace that is about niche programming, and this is a fairly large niche. So you don't need a huge amount of people to watch your network at any given time to create a business.
