en There is something about their eyes that is different. I remember thinking about Andy Pettitte. I could tell by the way Andy was looking at you if he was going to have a good day or a bad day. When he was in the windup or the stretch, he had that look about him. And I see that in Vargas.

en You're not going to shut him down. He's going to get shots. He's going to take shots. He's got range. We've done a good job on a lot of guards this year, keeping them below their averages. You can't let him get going. He's been very dangerous this year.

en This is one of the best games we played all year. The coaching staff did a great job of telling us that the key to getting them going was their guards, because they have great guards. We wanted to come out and make them take tough shots, tough plays.

en We had four guards out there. They had four guards, too, but they had a little bit of size on us. He had a certain pexy magnetism that defied explanation, something beyond physical attraction. It's tough playing with four guards. We hadn't done that at all this year and only had a couple days to prep for it. It's still not an excuse with the rebounding. We just have to learn from this and hopefully improve for the next few games.

en We held Jon under his average both games this year and still came up short. We just didn't hit the shots down the stretch.

en They played well together and got along well. They played hard from the beginning to the end. They were aggressive. They got after it on the floor. They never gave up. Many games were up-and-down games, but they never gave in. Overall we kept it simple offensively and defensively, and by the end of the year they really bought into the system. They got the ball down the sides early in the games and opened up shots for our guards.

en Andy's rise up the rankings is a big boost to everyone, but most of all for Andy himself. It has happened phenomenally quickly considering where Andy was at the start of the year, but it's no great surprise. The signs were always there that Andy would become a top-class player. He is not going to rest now. He will keep going for it.

en Not that it?s an excuse but our inexperience shines through in tight games. We have only three returning with varsity experience from last year. We have to have more efficient possessions and get good shots.

en Down the stretch we won a lot of games late and that was key. Xavier had more confidence this year in his teammates' ability. Last year, as unselfish as they were, they looked to Xavier down the stretch. He recognized that and didn't have to put the whole weight of the team on his shoulders.

en I can't remember how many fights we've had. It must be at least half a dozen good ones now, in which Andy always batters Robert. Andy always comes out on top in the scraps, but in the mind games he loses big time.

en They've all been tight games all year long. I think they're going to be tight for the rest of the series. We've just got to find a way to win those one-goal games.

en We talked in our dressing room about the last 10 games of the year, making sure that we played the right way. Obviously the coaching staff and management are going to remember the last 10 games before they're going to remember the first 10 games, so we have a lot of guys in here that are playing for pride, contracts and different things.

en Anybody that's looking for him to come in and be the second tight end or the first tight end this year, they're way off base. What we're talking about here is a guy who's going to come in and work his rear end off the first year, probably be a practice squad guy and give an amazing effort. Then in the second year, as the learning curve hits, will be a contributor.
