en Up until now, we've done little but complain. Until now, we've stood by, watching native habitat disappear, and with it wildlife of all types. Instead of doing something, we've come to accept our present situation as inevitable and tolerable.

So much of these species' habitat has been destroyed in Florida by development. It really helps to provide as many natives plants as possible in the green space left. They are precious areas.

en The Fish & Wildlife Service once again is playing favorites, enabling developers and other special interests to convert frog habitat to parking lots, while overlooking the costs habitat destruction will impose on the rest of us. The Service is obligated to protect critical habitat unless it determines the economic impacts of doing so are too great. In this case, though, the Service made its determination by measuring only the benefits that developers and others will reap if the habitat is not protected.

en And the habitat is our responsibility. We try to manage all the uses on a site - grazing, wildlife, cultural resources. It's a lot easier to manage habitat if you have a bigger parcel.
