en We are a real museum and we are going to do all the things that a real museum does. We are going to lend things, we are going to borrow things and we're going to send exhibitions on the road.

en This exhibition will be a good start for future cooperating between the Palace Museum and the Shanghai Museum. We will have a series of other exhibitions because the Palace Museum is like a magical precious depository.

en We can't compete with Dubuque or Springfield (Ill.), but we can make it a more modern museum. (The current museum) is wonderful and it has lots of neat things, but it's static.
  Judy Johnson

en Not having a spring exhibition (in 2005) was a big deal. I'm pleased we kept as much (of the numbers) as we did. What drives a museum is having new things. That's the single most important thing I've learned as director of a museum.

en People have been asking questions about the $250,000 and in the scheme of things isn't the museum important enough. But question isn't about the amount of money but where it's coming from. en The museum is an important part of Picher's history and deserves a home of its own. We also need to make sure the integrity of the things that are on loan to the museum still belong to the original owners which would require some changes to the bylaws.

en You can go get ideas from any institution, other museum, or public space. Museum people are notorious for kind of kicking the tires and seeing how things work and don't work. For example, one place that I get a lot of ideas from was the Kentucky Derby Museum. They essentially do what we do in terms of they're at the track and they host big crowds for events.
