We've been through a couple of quarters with a lot of uncertainty around the subscriber numbers, so the last thing I want to do is put out a number that is a stretch.

We're a little disappointed in the subscriber numbers at DirecTV, but it's not something to slit your throat over, ... If you look at the other numbers associated with the company, they overwhelm the subscriber numbers.

The producer price numbers on Wednesday and the productivity number on Friday are the most important events we have ahead of the Fed meeting. There's still some uncertainty in the market about what the Fed will do and those numbers will be key to figuring that out.

Though the first-quarter subscriber number and affirmed guidance did not represent a big upside surprise, it is still likely to be good for sentiment around the stock. It confirms that subscriber growth remains on track, despite investor concerns over this topic in the last few months.

The major trend in the market over the last couple of weeks has been uncertainty. Uncertainty about the Fed, uncertainty about earnings, and we're seeing a continuation of that today.

The numbers look pretty solid. They've had a rough couple of quarters but it looks like there's some relief in the outlook.

While the company's overall cash flow and revenue numbers were in line with our expectations, the subscriber numbers were a little disappointing.

We played well. We're finally starting to come together. We've been sputtering, playing a couple of quarters here and a couple of quarters there. Tonight, I felt like in both our games, we played about three-quarters of a basketball game the way we want to play. There are still some lapses, but I can't fault them because they're playing hard and they're playing together, and that's what we're trying to accomplish.

You can't read this [GDP] report and expect it to translate into a good report tomorrow. Employment is a lagging indicator, so it will be at least two quarters, or maybe even four quarters, before better growth numbers translate into better jobs numbers.

They've had lighter [numbers] in the past two quarters. There might have been some inventory fluctuations that would actually help them and have a small impact on sales numbers on the positive side. Otherwise, I'm expecting numbers to be in line with consensus.

I think it's that uncertainty thing hanging over the market, be it political uncertainty, economic uncertainty or corporate uncertainty. Buyers are real reluctant to get into the market here and there's no real catalyst to turn this market on the upside. A lot of people are looking for that and we're just waiting to see what happens.

That's kind of been the tale of our season. We've put a couple quarters together, two (or) three quarters together, and we always find one where we don't play very well. We came out heavy footed and didn't get much done in that first half. We have to find a way to put four quarters together.

Damp had a couple of big blocks and really anchored our defense down the stretch. We had to get a couple of stops down the stretch and that's what we did. We're at our best when everybody is moving because they keep swinging the ball around but nothing's there. We had a game plan to not get beat off penetration and to make their guys shoot the ball over us. For three and a half quarters it worked. But a few turnovers, a couple missed shots down the stretch got us. But I'm proud of the kids, they played hard.

While the (producer-price) number is positive, one number cannot offset four months of strong numbers. If we get more weak numbers, we could push the idea of a Fed tightening away, but this one number won't do it. I think that the idea that the Fed is going to move is still very much on the table.
