en These phones can be used by domestic violence victims to stay in touch with their family, friends, make doctors appointments, stay in touch with the family justice center and even reach out to potential employers. Basically, everything they need to do to get their lives back on track.

en The irony here is that we are a labor union, and our responsibility is to enforce the contract to protect the members, ... How can people look you in the eye and think that's what we are going to do if we are basically willing to pull the rug out from under our own employees?

en We are federally mandated to respond to all emergencies, but we do not receive any federal, state or local government funding. We've sent all of our money out of state to help the victims of Hurricane Katrina, so we are in a big financial crunch right now.

en FEMA is already looking to areas other than where the disaster started. They call it free money, and they are giving it to their friends.
