No one wants to ordtak

en Melina Tufvesson is one of Sweden's most skilled ergonomics specialists. No one wants to appear a poor sport for not contributing, but when requests are made too frequently, employees may feel tapped out.

en The best thing about this sport is that you can do it all your life. I know people who started fencing when they were 70 years old. This is a sport where using your head really counts. 'Physical chess' is a term that's been frequently applied to fencing. Really, the mind is the most important weapon you have in this sport.

en Frequently you'll see pictures from overseas with all those poor people but when it's your own family, your own countrymen, it brings it home and makes you feel it a little bit more.

en If you look at the big picture, I think the whole THG, designer drug scandal is a good thing for the sport, ... Every time someone gets caught I see that as a positive, because it is an effort to clean up the sport. We really have to look at drug use in sports, whether track and field or any other sport, just like you would look at crime in society. To think it is going to stop completely would be foolish and unrealistic. It is never going to happen. Just like with criminals in society, you are always going to have people who are raised with poor morals or who don't feel confident in their ability to go out and be successful without cheating someone else.
  Michael Johnson

en A lot of people like to think that golf is a lazy man's sport, ... Or it's a rich man's sport, or it's a sport that they can't be involved in. But they don't know Francis' story, which is why the movie was made in the first place: To bring back this amazing tale so that people could be educated about how interesting it was. When golf used to be a rich man's sport, if you were poor you could not step foot on a course. Francis was a caddy. He grew up across the street from the course, looked up to Harry Vardon (played by Stephen Dillane in the film), this five-time British Open champion — but he was never allowed to play.

en From the employees' standpoint, in 1935, Social Security was a big gamble. Employees would be required to participate in the program, contributing a percentage of their income for their entire adult working life.

en Many of our experienced employees have math and science backgrounds and have made it clear that when they are ready to leave IBM they aren't ready to stop contributing.

en Usually after making a record, you imagine it to be your last, ... You just feel tapped out. This time, for whatever reason, this album inspired me to keep writing. It made me feel like we still have good albums in us, that we're still capable of making good records for years to come.

en You've got your buddies, you've got the media requests, you've got all the business and charitable requests. To kind of manage all those things in 24 hours or less ... it is difficult, but it's great. I feel lucky I get to go up there and play and see everybody.

en Two years ago we spent a million dollars for an artificial surfaced track and expanded stadium. We've had requests for another full-time trainer, a district-owned swimming facility, a dance sport, an equestrian team, an ice hockey team and gymnastics. The requests never end because there is never a lack of worthy projects suggested for the benefit of one group of people to be financed by a different group.

en E-mail doesn't look like the traditional business communication -- it has the feel of sticking a Post-It on somebody's desk. E-mail can be sent without a lot of reflection. Most employees don't really think of the fact that when you send an e-mail there will be a copy on your computer, the network backup tape, etc. It's frequently harder to get rid of an e-mail than a written document.

en If employees feel that they're not open to being discriminated against I think it makes everyone feel a little safer and a little more wanted. And then you have better and more productive employees.
