A lot of people had us dead before the division race was over. But our players didn't buy into that.

We had three of our best players not even on the ice. It was a good, complete effort. I think they realize we're not a team that's going to be easily beat. We're going to put up a fight every night. It's going to be a race for the division.

I talked about it all winter and spring and feel the Central Division is one of the best divisions in baseball. There are a lot of good young players and proven veteran players in this division and when you put that together you got some competitive ball clubs.

This division is so tight that it will get down to the last five matches of the season when you can either reach the play-offs or be relegated. And it's a race against time to get back some of our injured players.

There's no doubt about it. The way things are going now, it's much better (to be No. 6 than No. 5) . . . We talk about it every day how important the division race is. It would put (us) behind the eight ball if we don't win our division.

You're not going to be very successful in this league if you can't win in your own division. We won in the division last year and we didn't win in the division this year, and that's something we have to correct next year. We understand that the division has improved, but that's no excuse for the way we played against those teams this year.

Coming into it, I didn't know what it was going to be like with two Division I players on the team. They're just like my big sisters. They take you under their wings and tell you how to do it, and you listen to them.

We won a few wars and we lost a few wars today. Here in the past week, we lost (five) players to Division I(-A) programs. Our goals are to expand the Hooters Pro Cup Series into another division in the near future. This race will be a perfect way to showcase our product to Midwestern fans on a grand stage and possibly lay the groundwork for a Midwest division.

There's no discounting how tough our division is. I look at it as a positive, in a way. Maybe, as a division, we'll get a little closer to each other so that anything can happen in the course of a race. If we hang around early, we can build some confidence up and create some problems in there. It wouldn't surprise me a bit if we created some havoc.

We already had a nucleus of fantastic players, more than capable of getting out of this division. Last season we just didn't have quite enough firepower. We changed that.

It's doubly important. Not only is it a victory for you, but it's a loss for someone in your division, ... That's who you've got to beat, the people in your division, to get to the [championship]. Every time you play a division opponent, it carries double the meaning.

I don't think you can ever question the decision that your boss makes. If he would have said 'race' or 'don't race,' that's what I would have done. I race for him. . . . I don't think that anybody can critique the fact that he said don't race. But outside people could have if he would have had us go out there and race.
