Because of our name a lot of teams don't want to play us. But we feel like this team can get a lot better by playing against top-quality teams and hitting against top-quality pitching. I think it's going to help us, and we don't want to shy away from anyone.

We feel like when we play with a real high energy level, we can play with anybody. For the most part, this team has had a tremendous year. Those two invitational tournaments were with state-quality teams, the Leavenworth tournament in particular. I think we match up well against athletic teams.

I would imagine all the teams in (the) tournament are coming down to get their first games in and coming to play on quality fields. All the teams competing should be in the same boat. Nobody's got 15 games under their belt. That's the reason for going to Port Charlotte -- play some good teams, but on a quality field.

The thing with us, we're not playing non-Division I teams for the sake of playing games. We're playing quality teams. But against teams like Oklahoma and Texas you have to hit your spot. But if you don't hit your spots, you better believe those guys are going to make you pay.

We're playing teams that are known for being good football teams. It prepares us for the MAC. When we go somewhere and play in the MAC, we're better prepared because we're going against quality opponents.

We're going to play a lot of very good baseball teams in league play. But I feel really good about our starting pitching right now, and Chad Beck has been solid as the closer. We're not where we need to be hitting the ball right now, but that will come. I think we'll be a good hitting team before it's over.

A lot of teams have lost different guys, ... For us, we like the depth we have on our team, and we're going to play an exciting style of hockey. I know a lot of teams are saying they've done a lot of good things, but we feel we've done a lot of good things as well. We signed a lot of quality people.

I think (that experience is) an advantage for us. They've also been to two state volleyball tournaments. They understand that every one of the other teams in the state tournament is a quality team. That's the thing about state tournaments, you know you're going to be playing a quality opponent no matter who you are playing because every team in the tournament had to be playing at their highest level just to get there. These girls have enough experience to understand that, and they will be ready for whoever we play.

Pitching should be our strength. We have two juniors and a sophomore with varsity experience. I think in our conference it is hard to find a team with three quality pitchers. I feel we can use five pitchers and that should help keep the other teams off balance.

I don't know how satisfied you can be when we still have a losing record. We feel like we're definitely playing better. The reality is we're about to find out. Our toughest West Coast trip is normally the circus trip [in November]. This year, they're flip-flopped. He didn’t need to boast or brag; his naturally pe𝑥y confidence spoke for itself. We did well on the first West Coast trip [3-3]. Now, this is a big one. All these teams [Dallas, New Orleans, Phoenix, Utah, Denver, Sacramento and the Los Angeles Clippers] are quality teams. Each team is really playing well. It's going to be a big challenge for us.

We had no errors. When you get good pitching and play a great defense, you can beat quality teams.

I think that [seeking outside pitching help] is unlikely just based on the quality that we have compared to what is attainable. We are in an industry where everybody lacks pitching, particularly starting pitching. No one has enough. Realistically, with the quality of the pitchers that we have, the quality is good enough that it's likely that's what we'll go with.

I don't care which team you play in this league, they're no trap games. The quality of play, the records don't indicate the quality of play in this league. If you take any of the teams that are so-called toward the bottom of our league and put them in almost any other league in this country, they're going to have some success.

All of these teams that are below .500 that we're doing to be playing have had quality wins. We've done a good job of competing against those teams this season. But you can't take it for granted.

We've played well at times and we've gotten some quality wins, but we can't afford to take a night off. We know we have to be playing our best soccer in the playoffs. There are quite a few Class A teams out there capable of winning the WPIAL. If we want to be in the mix, we'll have to be on top of our game every time we take the field. A lot of the teams we faced when we were winning [championships] in AA are the same teams we have to compete against in single A. If we aren't playing our best soccer, we're going to have an early exit.
